Hey Abriboho,

There are 2 GENFORUM forums on this name, one specific to Texas, the other is general. A great place to strike up a Genealogy discussion with like minded surname interests.

The LDS Family Search site has 420 entries, you need to check that out.

Spelling variations of this family name include: Castro, Castrillo, Castrelo and others.

First found in Castile, an important kingdom of medieval Spain.

Swyrich.com has two origins, Spain and Italian.
Spain:
"Some of the first settlers of this family name or some of its variants were: Vaca de Castro, a judge, was sent from Spain to Peru in 1541 by Charles V to advise Pizarro concerning the government of his province. Among the many migrants to the New World bearing this surname were Juan Castro, who sailed to Guatemala in 1536.

Italian:
(the write up on Italian is not filled out).
