Hello Kyah. There may be no right or wrong answer to your question. I am not a lover of many fish because of the "fishy" taste & smell you mentioned. I've worked in a few upscale restaurants & I've learned a few things.
I'm sure you already know that with any fish, freshness is very important. If you can afford to go to a fish market, you'll get higher quality & fresher fish than you'll ever find in the grocery store.
As far specific fish, I can think of three. My personal favorite is swordfish. You can cook it just about any way, but I like it best "blackened" (cajun spices, salt & pepper-you can buy it at your grocery store) & seared in a very hot saucepan. Serve with lemon & I think you'll like the flavor.
I also love salmon. Make sure that you buy "fillet" rather than "steak". Blackened salmon is great, too & I also like broiling it with garlic & butter.
Filet of sole is also delicious broiled with garlic & butter (or with lemon & capers-for a change of pace). In fact, many people think that sole is the least "fishy" of all the fish.
(Please excuse me while I go make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich....sometimes bachelorhood isn't all it's cracked up to be-LOL).
Try them out & let me know what you think. Bon appetit!

If you are in the US, Talapia is good, and it's cheap. It's very versatile. It adapts well to any cuisine. I eat it with Indian spices, chile and lime in a tortilla, with a little garlic, butter and salt, poached, it really doesn't taste bad unless you burn it. It's a very mild white fish.
Orange roughy is good too, but it's pricier.
Farm raised catfish is quite good, but you want to avoid any that has any dark streaks in it. That is where the "fishy" taste comes from, but if you soak it in buttermilk overnight and then rinse it, that taste goes away. Or if you get it before it's been frozen, cut the dark streaks out and it won't have that overly fishy taste.

Well most fish are fishy n to finish the fishiness first clean the fish specially in the centre near to its spinal cord where it has a blood clog and then mix wheat flour with water n leave it in for 30 minutes, wash it and then marinate it with garlic n spices like u want em coz garlic terminates the smell. this will make a good and delicious fishiless fish. avoid fish with more fats coz it does not taste so good and cant cook it so well.

Flounder is pretty good, I prefer freshwater fish such as Bass, Walleye, Trout and Crappie. Certain species of catfish are superb too such as the Flathead. I don't think its legal to buy or sell Gamefish though, you'll have to catch em ;-)

Tilapia and off course red snapper, especially Escovitched Fish made with red snapper.
It all depends on how the fish is prepared

Farm raised talapia is really good, especially with a little garlic and butter baked or sauteed.
