I would say that both effects are playing a role. Cultural awareness of gay issues has been increasing, and unlike many minority groups, gays are already largely integrated into society. While we may effect political changes very rapidly, culture changes depend on people moving past the prejudices instilled in their upbringing. In this case, the realization that gays are common and fully integrated into society is pushing for rapid political change, but as individuals our minds tend to resist change. Even liberals and gay people themselves must learn to embrace freedom in daily life, for most of us have grown up with many emotionally-lades biases which may no longer be applicable in the new cultural and political climate.

They fear what is different. Before gay people it was blacks and before blacks was Indians and before them, etc...
It will just take some time for them to see that they have been hating their friends neighbors, fathers mothers. sisters, brothers, etc. It will not be long until every person and every family has a little gay or lesbian child that grows up.
then they will see that while it is normal to be gay or lesbian it is also normal to be straight becasue we are all born the way we are and that is never going to change, ever.

Most of the people in our society are selfish dumb idiot's. They were born Lucky as normal or what so ever and think about the others low. Which makes to pop up and answer the question with some sort of material.
Born luckey is wrong....I'm still confuse about our birth in different levels.

People are passionate about the issue. Not too many gay people come here, the abuse is pretty rampant.
But many of us who are not gay defend their rights here anyhow.

I my opinion, persecution of different sexualities is one of organised religion's most heinous crimes. As a non-believer, I have no problem with other people believing in God and/or certain books, but if they use those books to try to deny others basic human rights, it's a critically important question that needs to be spoken about.
For me, that's why.

Curiosity. People want to know about the hidden, the forbidden and the controversial. People answer based on their experience whether they are gay, bisexual, heterosexual or homophobic......
