To paraphrase someone who answered a question of mine yesterday, "when determining self-will from the Gods will I set out a fleece"

What's that mean? Some examples of how to do this, if you can.

I looked this up because I was curious, and I am including a link with an explanation of "setting out a fleece". I hope this helps.

"Fleece before the Lord" comes from the story of Gideon in Judges 6:36-38.
Gideon said to God, "If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised- look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said." And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.

People use it today a little out of context, however someone might say, 'Lord if that is you that is speaking to me give me a sign."

It means to test God's will when you don't get the answer you want or have doubt.

It comes from a story in the Bible (Judges 6:36-40).

It is a test from God and one that we should NOT do.

Example: I'm driving down the road and I see a red traffic light ahead, so I say to myself, "God, if you want me to quit my job, make this light turn green right now!"

Jesus said it is a wicked generation that seeks after signs and wonders.
