what's there to gain?

sorry if i keep asking questions, but i just don't get it. and please don't give me the "because i love you" line because it's not convincing. can anyone please explain why is this happening?

if Catholics are doomed the way those people think so, then what's it to those people anyway? as far as i can see, there's no Catholic trying to convert or force anyone to be Catholic in this modern era, so what's with all the bashings?

to you David T: i have had enough of all those lies. sorry if that offends you too, but just like you defending your own beliefs, i do defend mine as well, but in defending my beliefs, i don't see the need to bash someone's beliefs that differ from me.

There are many groups and many people, who have been brought up believing that the Catholic Church is the church of the anti-christ.

Such things are even part of the official mission statements of certain protestant groups.

Others feel the need to justify their own existence by attempting to prove that the Catholic Church is something other than what God intends it to be.

No one who undertakes a truly objective study of the history and theology of the Catholic Church could believe things like this, as the scholarship and documentation supporting the Catholic Church is complete, authentic, and clear.

Deception runs rampant these days.

As a Catholic myself, I've lived my life with people coming up with all sorts of ridiculous notions of what they think Catholics believe.
They are genuinely shocked when I point out that the Catholic church, while not supporting homosexuality, is probably the biggest carer for them in the healthcare system. Also that the Big Bang theory and evolution are officially accepted by the church. To me, the Catholic Church is one of the most progressive denominations of Christianity. The Catholic church, and its related organisations, probably helps more people through charities than anyone else on Earth.
All these people can focus on in abuse by religious workers (I am as appalled as everyone else), the ban on sex before marriage and contraception.
I have often wondered why. And I have come to the conclusion that, when people think of religion and Christianity, they need a focus, and that focus is the church in Rome and the Pope. So, in a sense, we are the representatives of Christianity to a lot of people. And that makes us targets, in a sense.

This is a forum to express our ideas and to point out beliefs that are illogical. You set yourself up for ridicule once you expose yourself as a brainwashed fanatic of a religion that is the bastardized version of a faith based on a flawed, man-made fantasy book. If you prefer to remain a sucker, that's your choice. Call me a basher, but I sincerely do this because "I love you".

A few clarifications- convert and force are not the same thing. Convert offers the one being converted a choice of whether they wish to be or not. Such a thing can never be forced. Merely giving information to someone else, even if its information that they completely disagree with, is not an act of force in and of itself, unless some force is brought to bear. And, to my knowledge, many Catholics DO still convert people, especially in third world countries.

Secondly, warning someone of God's judgment is not (in most cases) an act of hostility or dislike towards that person, but of love. Just like warning a little kid not to go in the street so they won't get hit by a car. Yes, some people will beat others over the head with a "you're going to hell" speech to make themselves feel superior, but others are only trying to make the truth known, to warn those who are running to their destruction where they are headed, to give them a chance to change direction. If they don't wish to change direction, they have been fairly warned, and may choose the path they wish, and will be responsible for the consequences.

That being said, just because you are Catholic doesn't mean you are going to hell. There are alot of unbiblical Catholic doctrines, but there are more than a few unbiblical Protestant doctrines as well. What name you call yourself doesn't determine where you are going. Who you follow, who you surrender your life to does.

Though Catholicism has many serious problems, I believe there are some Catholics who do know the Lord, perhaps even some who do not adhere to errors such as necromancy (praying to dead saints and Mary).

You, like everyone else, are responsible to God for your actions, and will give an account to Him on the day of Judgment, just like everyone else. Then it will be apparent whether what you have done and how you have lived has been in Christ or from yourself. Just be sure that you don't exalt your own ideas and traditions over what God has said in His Word. I don't say this to condemn you, because this holds true for everyone, myself included. We are responsible for our own eternal destination.

We are all valuable in God's eyes. He doesn't want to see anyone go down the path of distruction, but all to come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved.

Nothing that is built on a solid foundation can be undermined. If someone's faith is too weak to withstand challenge, that's an issue they'll have to deal with.

I agree with you. I kept getting a e mail from a particular person telling me to leave the Catholic Church but I told him no because I believe in the Church and he was not happy about it. My faith in the Church is strong and I believe in God and all his teachings

God Bless You

Just watch with an open mind...take 10 minutes of your life.

Email me anytime.

EDIT: Why EXACTLY are they lies? How do you know and judge what you have not seen? Then you hate me for warning you about what I have seen?

because they want to be told they're in the right. all they want is a confirmation, because they are so unsure themselves. those kinds of people who can't say anything good about others are just insecure about themselves and their own beliefs so they try to convince others to believe what they believe in order for them to believe their own beliefs. isn't it sad? i think you should just pity them, or might as well, just ignore them. they will only bring you down to their level, so don't stoop that low okay? :-)
