whenever i try to play movies on my computer i get a message saying i dont have the required codecs. but i dont know how to tell which ones i need.

There are many different codecs so it could take me awhile to guess what it is you need. But when you try to play the movie and it shows up on the playlist with a ! next to it, click on the ! and it should tell you something, possibly DivX or something like that. Then go to Google and type "download" and the codec name, and usually you get results pretty quickly.

i had a similar problem. install the latest service pack for Windows. I just might help. i had a similar problem once and that solved it.
