He was in the hosital for a week to find a antibiotic that would get his infection under control and I had to administer antibiotics through a PICC line every 8 hours. He just recently had it removed now they are saying in a month or 2 they will think about removing it. Im confused because I thought it was dangerous and needed to be removed immediately.

The infection is in him now. It’s not contained in the appendix anymore. .the only reason they would take it out ASAP is to prevent it from happening. The cats out of the bag now. It’s ruptured, so now they are worried about him having a body wide infection that will get worse, they want to give him antibiotics until the danger is over, and then they remove it. If they do the surgery now, it will be very risky and he may have a lot of complications like a infection that worse, because the body cant heal well after surgery, and is more susceptible to having infection run out of control

As long as it has not ruptured it won't cause any further serious problems.
You should ask your doctor this question, but my guess is that they're trying to stabilize the appendix before going inside.
By administering antibiotics it's probably helping to minimize the risk of rupture during surgery.
I'm sure there's a logical medical reason for waiting.

the doctors are trying to save the appendix and avoiding any surgical approuch by treating your son with antibiotics. if its not ruptured yet it will not cause any problem inside the abdomen.
