I am afraid that my friend will make fun of me because of something I did to him last year (as in being immature about a rumor). What should I do about the friend and the girl?

Well, if you like her and you think she's worth a try, tell her that you really like being with her. Based on her response, you'll know how she feels and if you should ask her out.
Would your friend make fun of you for asking her out? Thats wierd. I don't understand what the problem is, but if that IS the case, ignore him. If you like her, he'll want you to be happy and get used to it eventually.

What exactly was this "immature rumor"?
If you want to go out with the girl, then you should just ask her out. It sounds like the rumor was your fault, so just be a man and deal with it!
