Honeydew (melon) = is a cultivar group of muskmelon (fruit)


Hog Plum = long yellow fruit with juicy translucent acidic pulp of varying flavor and a large seed. Fruits are juicy so they are often eaten as thirst quenchers. Occasionally the yellow mombin is used to flavor drinks and ice creams


Ice Cream Bean = Inga edulis a.k.a. Inga-Cipo
Although numerous species are called the ice cream bean, this is the most common species attributed the name. Fruit is a long pod, sometimes a few feet in length, containing a bright-white pulp surrounding several large seeds. Flavor is sweet and resembles vanilla ice cream. Very popular fruit in many parts of Central and South America Native to riverbanks, swamps and lakes of the Brazilian Amazon


Indian Fig Opuntia = is a species of cactus and a long-domesticated crop plant important in agricultural economies throughout arid and semiarid parts of the world. Indian Fig Opuntia is grown primarily as a fruit crop, but also for the vegetable nopals and other uses. ( both fruit and vegetable uses)


Xylopia aromatica = Monkey Pepper
Strangely shaped fruit with numerous small lobes, arranged in a sort of cluster. Skin is light green, with red pulp which surrounds black seeds. The seeds have a taste and smell much like black pepper. Native to scrub-land regions of Brazil

Velvet Apple = Very beautiful dark red to purple colored fruit with velvet-like skin. Fruit is about the size of an apple, with mildly sweet flavored, somewhat mealy, flesh. Fruits are highly esteemed in some areas, but barely known in most parts of the world. Native to the Philippines

Vitis californica = Native Californian grape, producing small, purple fruits with a sweet grape flavor, and a small amount of pulp.
Native to Central parts of California, from the Delta to the Grapevine. Also found in the Sierra foothills

In the superstore, fruits are usually picked out much too soon. Some are rocks, many are bad. Some of the fruit and vegetables are generally right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.
