Because round pizza boxes are a lot harder to come around. Pizza places are in it for the money, and they are going to spend only the money they have too. Also havent you noticed they put Garlic Sauce and Cheese Packets on the sides, they need room for those don't they?

Its easier to quickly fold machine cut cardboard into a box than into a circle, as they do at the restaurants. and probably uses less material too.

and in response to that guy who just said why are manhole covers round, probably because it is easier to slide a heavy iron circle into its spot without worrying about its position, than trying to position a heavy square cover so that the corners meet. and they are usually on road ways and cars go over them. A circular cover could spin around if it was forced to by a braking car, while a square one would pop out or grind its corners into the asphalt.
