u really do need to get her to a vet asap. in saying this, i work in a shelter and see this quite frequently by dogs who r mentally tormented or depressed. i am not in any way suggesting that u r tormenting ur dog, but it doesnt take much to upset a little dog. changing a routine, or playing with another dog or something as silly and simple as this is enough to upset her. i have an ex-cruelty case dog from the shelter and she gets very moody. sometimes she gets very despressed for no apparent reason. she behaves like u have described. she will not respond 2 me, she completely ignores me, wont toilet and looks physically drained. my dog is 100% healthy!! i will admit that i get worried and frequently take her to the vet at the shelter and make her do tests JUST INCASE!! but she always turns out to be fine... then the next day she is back to normal! i would take ur pooch to the vet if i were u because u just can never be sure. something that my dog experiences may be nothing to do with the way urs is behaving. pls get her checked. in the mean time, run ur fingers over her whole body to check for ticks. they wil je bust a small lump under her fur. check carefully, they can b small but can cause death-especially in small dogs. ask ur self some questions too... the vet will ask questions so hink about ur answers.... has she been exposed to anything unusual? could she have eaten anything poisenous? have u mopped the floor with a different chemical and could she have licked it? pls keep me up 2 date with ur dogs health. email me an update. good luck 2 u and ur pooch! =)

Lethargy in a dog can be a sign of something serious. Do you watch her when she goes outdoors to potty? Does she have fever? Was she acting like this yesterday at all? She does need to be seen by a vet because from what you describe that doesn't sound normal unless she played very, very hard earlier today and is just exhausted. Missing a stool one day is not so unusual but the fact that you say she has slept all day and her reaction now sounds rather serious.
Even one ant bite on a puppy or little dog can kill them.

It sure is hard to diagnose over the Internet, but Teresa made a very good reminder about the Chihuahua becoming hypoglycemic..If you have a WalMart near by, they carry a tube of nutrient with electrolytes and compound sugars..(NutraCal) in the pet department...give as directed on the tube..If you can get the puppy to drink Gatorade, it will help as well..Pedialyte would be another choice, but wouldn't take care of the blood sugars....It does sound like an obstruction somewhere in his digestive tract.. Perhaps you could call a vet in a nearby town, to get advice? Meanwhile, a heating pad might make him more comfortable, but be sure that it is only near him, (next to him) and not under him..Keep fluids to him...Pedialyte and Gatorade, are available at all grocers. If you don't have a heating pad, a plastic bottle of hot water, wrapped in a towel will work very well..

Dogs get sick just like humans do. My dog wasn't feeling well one day last week, and I could tell she just wasn't acting normal. A day of that once in awhile is completely normal and shouldn't be anything to worry about. If it continues for a couple of days I would call the vet, but most likely you have nothing to worry about. Just let her sleep and take it easy.

YOU HAVE TO GET HER TO THE VET NOW!!!!!!!!

Even if you have to drive over an hour to get to the next vet, take her. It sounds like something serious is going on and little dogs go downhill fast. She may not live till the morning when the vet opens, and if she does she may be too far gone to save her. VET NOW!!!

VET VET VET
if the dog is not use to eating the food it ate it can be pancreaitis and this can kill it.
I have a friend that fed their chihuahua bits of turkey and it died from the same symptoms you are describing.

I brought her to the vet and he said she would sleep it off...How embaressing!!!! even if you can't go to the vet I would suggest calling them and getting advice over the phone....good luck!!

I wish I could give you a diagnosis. Truth is your dog is very sick and needs to be seen by a veterinarian ASAP. Any other advice could be harmful to her life. Please take her to a doctor. There is an emergency veterinary clinic near you if your vet is not open. You are her guardian, best of luck.

Regular diet? No Rat poison in the house? (If poison, she will drink a TON of water).

If not okay.

Female - 6 months old. First menstrual cycle? Is she licking herself "down there" a lot?

If it's only today, keep an eye out, but don't worry yet. Tomorrow . . . . .

Maybe
