I can not say I know why exaclty. What I do know for a fact is that they are in heaven. They will not have to be pressured into following this or that. They will not have to be accountable for anything on the Day and will already be there. They will never have to worry about paying the bills or about a loved one. They are free.

When babies die people usually are angry, how could god take away a life that just started?! But it was their time to go, even though it was only a short time they made an impact on someones life. It was what their soul was supposed to do. They will go back to heaven and know they made a difference in the world even if only to one person. Its hard to understand but everything happens for a reason.
Have a good day

This world is not as it was intended before the fall of man.
There is a new world coming.
Isaiah 65:17-25
17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. 20 "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. 21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. 23 They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the Lord.

I don't understand why so many people ask this question. People of all ages die in all sorts of ways everyday. The body is going to die. That is one thing every living person, past, present and future have in common.
God cares for the soul.
It hurts, it breaks our hearts and we grieve the loss of those we love, but they are not "dead". Everyone, (soul) lives forever. Babies will be in heaven without a doubt. They haven't had the chance to deny God.
HE has a reason, but he does not need to explain Himself to us. Perhaps he knows that the baby is in for a terrible life and is saving them from the pain.
Dieing, reguardless of how or age, is not a punishment or cruelty from God.

I used to ask myself the same question. Just like "Why would god let babies be born with cleft pallets? Why would god let babies be born with AIDS? Why would god let babies be born with CP?" Then I remember, god's not real and if he really is, then he just don't care one bit about us.

Version 1: God has nothing to do with human according to my opinion. We are left alone to whatever we want to do.
Do you know why???
Imagine you have the infinite power to create, re create cure, rewind the time & change whatever you want. Would you mind, what the hell human does?
Version 2: God doesn't exist. Why does the human let the babies get killed?

Why does god let babies get killed?
There is no reason to do otherwise.
One could also ask- "why does God not destroy each and every person as soon as they sin."

I don't know. It's a question no one can answer. It is just a sad fact of life. My cousin lost her daughter just before she turned 3 yrs and it was the saddest days of my life. I would never wish for anyone to loose a child. It's been 5 yrs and my cousin will never get over it.
