It has never happened to me, and I have for the most part had female "best friends" through my life (I'm 66). It turned complicated several times and I lost one whom I really loved, and when I finally told her, she pretty much sounded shocked - and then she laughed, which wasn't pretty either and that was it. Rather sad, because I thought we would have been really good together - oh well. I didn't lose out at all, as I'm married to my best friend ever, going on 28+ years. But it didn't start as a friendship - I saw her and before we even talked, I knew that was it - and it was, big time. If you haven't seen "When Harry met Sally" you should. It is dealing with your question in a really fun way - great movie. Also, read my blog-post about RELATIONSHIPS (link below). To negate involving romantic (sex) feelings and "urges" is near impossible. And the fine line is that even if you THINK she has the same feelings, you might be terribly wrong. Another thing is that the "edge" feelings that might be going on, can actually spruce up the relationship without acting on it physically. So be careful if you don't want to rock the boat out of the water, okay? Cheers, Peter

Yes, of course it's possible. Not all relationships (even between people of the opposite sex) need to be romantic ones. In fact everyone should have ordinary friends of both sexes.
I can understand your feeling insecure about it though - but remember, they are far away, so you have the advantage!

Nope! I chat all the time and I have no intention of flirting. I have got to know a lot of interesting people on here. I openly say I am happily (sometimes lol) married and they say they ae married also and we talk of general things. What can happen anyway if someone is thousands of miles away?

Highly UNlikely that they were "just friends" I'm 40, single, and have tried to just find a friend to "chat" with online about everyday life. Nearly IMPOSSIBLE! The conversations ALWAYS lead to sex, sex and more sex. It's fun and exciting for these men to get that little extra attention online. They just can't help themselves.

Yes, your jealousy was out of proportion (and the insecurity was about the wrong thing), but on the other hand, if he was committed to you he'd have stopped trying to be close friends with so many other girls after you told him it bothered you.

Sounds pretty shady to me.
Why don't you get some of those digits off the Caller ID and give them a jingle?

Yeah, totally possible. Highly unlikely, unless of course they're ugly.

I think you did overreact. I chat with girls all the time in a platonic way so its perfectly fine. Oh and don't spy please. That's really lame.
