I am not sure people attack Catholicism as much as they have failed to investigate what they do not know or understand. It leans more to fear of the unknown. When people are in fear they attack to protect what has some value to them. The thought of exploring their unknown fear takes courage and an amount of time[which is used as an excuse to not explore their fear].
The Catholic Church is an institution with people of peace and evil within the structures. In other words, it is a human breathing organism. It roots are found in the Scriptures and tradition of 1880 years. Over that time if other people say errors were made I would agree. I agree because humans are the Church, divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit.Yet without the impetus from the Catholic Church, education, social justice, medical care, the Arts, understanding of reason and law, etc etc, could/would have remained dormant
For those who remain fearful and desire to eliminate that condition I always suggest they contact a Catholic Church or College nearby, late July/early August, and explore the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. One is always free to leave the Rite at any time.

Well, I can say myself as a Catholic that some people seem to love to put us down because of what they see on TV. But you don't ever stop to think have you ever seen a Catholic burn down a church of their same religion? No the only bad thing they can think of is about the little boy getting touched in the wrong place. And to let you in a little about why most of us look up to not only God but also to Mary well it's because she's the Mother of Christ and yes most true Catholic women don't take birth control or as most people would put it kill one of Gods unborn children.
I guess most people these days like to judge people and churches by what they see on TV. But I'll bet you if you were to ask them have they ever been to a Catholic Church they would say no then that's when you ask them well why don't you before you go jugging it from what you hear about it.

I was born a Catholic and everyone I know is Catholic but I can honestly tell you it embarrases me to say it and I usually just say Christian, it is in part what lead me to my journey to seek other forms of spirituality in the first place, pretty sad state of affairs wouldn't ya say, alot of people cannot forgive a church that would have pedophiles for priests and then stand idly by and doing nothing about it. Have you ever read the story about Nun's Island (quebec) omg its Horrific or seen Agnes of God (which I think is based on Nun's Island-which I know exists because I live there) or Aurora (case of an abused child) you might re-consider your view? Can you blame them, I can't.

Pfft. He's always attacking the catholics. It's actually kind of amusing, as long as you learn not to take him seiously.
It's kind of ironic, when you consider that the only reason there are different sects of christianity is because of political problems hundreds of years ago. It had nothing to do with religion, or which one was right. Yet still the followers of those different sects consider the other to be wrong, and attack them viciously. Personally, I don't see much difference between them, except semantics.

Well, I would answer that the Roman Catholic Church has stirred things up in the past (some people resent that) They even think that they are the 'official church'. Some people resent that.
In my ever so humble opinion, those people have it partially right. It's not 'Catholics' that I have a problem with, it's the world behind the Catholics; i.e. the Vatican. It's been a truly evil place in the past, and apparently it is still.

Well, consider the source(s). You're not talking to seminary grads who are willing to engage in collegial dialogue and apologetics, and so they simply repeat what they hear from other people and throw cheap jabs, collect their two points, & leave. I'd take 'em with a grain of salt.

I. Don't get it. He was making a point, although from what I'm told the Jewish people are old enough to put claim to pretty much everything that's done. Including churches. If you really want to "get away" from such an old religion, perhaps you should convien under trees.
But I don't see how this is insulting to the Catholic church?
And people do it to me all the time. Why aren't you petitioning for people to be nice to me? Or towards Jewish people. Or muslims, islamic, buddist, hinduists, christians, JW or satanists. Why are you only defending your religion? That's not very kind and caring and pious of you.

Because deep down inside, everybody knows that Jesus founded only one church, the Catholic Church, and that he expects everyone to remain loyal and faithful to his church alone, no matter what.
The church is the Bride of Christ ... not the Bride(s).
There is no provision for a divorce between Christ and his church.
There's only one church, the one he founded on the apostles and the pope, and the only one charged with the task of leading all souls to Christ.
Everyone else knows that what they have chosen for themselves is not right, and they hate to be reminded of it.
Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

Actually, it began when Henry VIII decided that he was hot for Anne Boleyn.
Try not to let it bother you; some people aren't happy unless they're ragging on someone's religious beliefs, race, sexual orientation, etc., and they're even happier if they can upset people about it.
