People have a tendancies to explain some of the lamest parts of the bible as being just a STORY yet some of it we are supposed to take literally? Isnt that a contradiction in itself. Ask anyone to defend the ADAM & EVE reference and they will say........its just a story........ask the same person why we supposed to beleive in GOD and they will say because he says so in the BIBLE and they will quote you on it.............does that make sense........its like saying an encyclopedia is a book of facts and a book of stories at the same time. Seems like a contradiction to me.

So, what you are saying is that the bible should have explained everything about the universe's creation? Do you think people would have understood things like DNA and gravity when they had not come up with basic science? How much of an explanation should God have given? If you get caught up on finding what you don't like about something and focus only on that, you lose sight of any potential benefits it may have. If you don't believe in God that's your right, i guess. But if we were just a collection of chemicals and electrical impulses I think we'd be no more sentient than a toaster. Oh, sure, we might go around and do all the things we do now, but there would be nobody behind the eyes. Like a robot. But that'd be a shame. All this creation to see and only Nobodies could see it. Seems like a tragedy to me.

No problem with taking Adam and Eve literal...but all things are not meant to be literal as Christ is the cornerstone of the church obviously he is not a stone. I'm not sure what defense someone would need for Adam and Eve many people do not get the literal story of Adam and Eve.The fact is some things are meant to be Spiritual and God himself reveals the truth to those who seek the truth. If you read the Bible genuinely seeking the truth you will find it. If it is conflict and contradiction you seek you might as well not read it. It is not here to serve that purpose. The Bible is a tool to know God it is not God but simply a tool to understand and build your relationship and if used properly with that purpose seeking the truth God will give you the gift of faith and through faith comes revelation but one has to honestly seek the truth and have value in the truth.

We are talking about human opinions here. If a Christians says that the story of Adam and Eve is just a story..how that person qualifies to say that as a truth?

I think the Bible is very interesting. I am thankful that Jesus fixed things so I can be with Him in eternity. That is a biggie to me. I do not have to understand everything to accept that gift. : )

It's how things are rationalized.

Science says a SINGULARITY caused it all.

Imagine that. A grain of sand so heavy it won't let light escape.

Mass in the UNIVERSE has ALWAYS existed. It is an ETERNAL.

Gee, but GOD existing forever, that's irrational!

Darwin says an AMOEBA caused it all. One little single celled creature MADE US ALL.

But Adam making us all, that's impossible.

Do you see an irony in that thinking?

If science say ONE amoeba created ALL life that's cool

If religion says ONE man created all humans that's not cool

Come on. Grow up!

Realize that scienctific explainations are just as lame as religious ones!

The universe started with a singularity that always existed. God or a Black Hole, take your choice, it's the SAME fairy tale. Only the NAMES of the keyplayers are different.

The difference. One says it was a super intellegence that made it all. The other says it was serendipity that made it all.

We are either CREATED by something or somone or we are an ACCIDENT.

YOu ever seen a black hole. You ever KNOW anyone who saw a black hole?

You ever seen God. You know anyone who's seen God?

What's the difference between the two. Both require FAITH to make them happen.

Some stories are fiction, some are myth, some are crudes attempts (by our standards) at history, some are poetry. Faith does not rest on biblical inerrancy. Faith has other sources.

Lots of contradictions in the Bible. Matthew and Acts tell 2 completely different stories about how Judas died, just to name 1. Only thing the 2 stories agree on is the name of the piece of real estate involved.

The Word of God does not contradict itself. All of the Bible is true and is God's letter to us to know who He is and what He is about. We are to take all the Bible literally. May God Bless U.

Have you seen "Roots"?

Moses was just compiling stories that he had heard. - That's ok with me.

What I object to is when Paul corrupted Jesus' messages and created his own religion of Bible Pounders and other people who scream in my ear.

(I am a Christian. I follow only Jesus: not Paul, nor Peter, nor Religious Empires. -- No. I do not nor will I ever kiss the Pope's ring.)

Ever heard of Christian fundamentalism? I think we should assume that the "fundamental" is that hipocrisy reigns supreme, but seriously dude, read the bible after you smoke some herb, much more enjoyable

A lot of people do not care about truth. They only care about what makes them feel good.

It's called "selective interpretation". Whatever is inconvenient is "not meant to be taken literally", and whatever supports their delusions is "gospel". Of course, anyone who sees through such blatant hypocrisy will be dismissed in as condescending a manner as possible.
