The new requirement for travel WITHIN the US is not about identity documents, it is about carrying liquids, gels, or sprays into the airplane. Therefore, the TSA has new rules about these items which you can view at
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

Briefly:
- You can still put these items in checked luggage as before.
- What you can put in your carryon is limited:
individually to 3 ounces per container
cumulatively to a sandwhich size-plastic bag
- Medications are allowed beyond the plastic bag limit if they are properly labeled. (see the website)
- Remember to put the plastic bag of these items on the scanner belt separately from your luggage. (If they are in the luggage, you get the extra-long screening with the residue test and opening your bag.) If you have medications above your 1 plastic bag limit, I suggest you hand them to the TSA agent running the scanner.
