I think it is good to be superstitious because it makes you more aware of what can happen or rather what is going to happen. I am very superstitious and if a black cat crosses my path, I avoid going in the same direction. I think of it as some sort of sign that I should pay close attention to what I am doing. It makes me more aware and alert!

I believe it is bad to be superstitious, but it is always good to be cautious. Most people are over stressed now a days and worrying about superstition will stress you out even more. I am not superstitious and I can break mirrors, crawl under ladders and open my umbrella in the house without consequences. On the other hand if you believe in superstition, bad things may happen to you because of the state of your mind.

Bad, unhealthy. Superstition invests power in an idea, a word or an action as if what happens in life can be affected by such. Superstition is a prejudice of the mind, a fixation learned and incorporated and difficult to shake. It is delusional but suprisingly powerful to those afflicted with superstitions. I was infected with a superstition that to walk over someone would bring harm to that person. I was confronted with this the other day and I was gripped by the superstition and yielded to it. Very confusing, because I know in my intellect that this is not true yet the infection was powerful enough. I remember coming upon the following scene: a man was walking and his path was crossed by a black cat. He froze. He could not proceed. Finally he resolved the matter by making on the ground to his North, South, East and West a cross mark. Then he proceeded onward.
As for me, I was quite taken aback by my weakness of mind. I am sure I was overcome because I wished no ill to another and my yielding to the superstition was to avoid anxiety or apprehension for the safety of one I love. Anyway, I need to work on getting rid of this mental virus.

That depends. If you're making yourself crazy around broken mirrors and black cats, then it's a bad thing.

If it keeps your morale up (good luck charms and such) then it's a good thing.
