What is good first date conversation?

I'm decent looking and I speak with intelligence, calm and confidence, so I can get girls to go out with me. But once I'm actually out on a date, conversation is a problem. If I'm trying to learn about the girl and listen to her, they say I'm too quiet or that I ask too many questions. If I take the lead and steer the conversation, they say I'm too long-winded and serious because I like to talk about things that actually matter. The girls who seem to actually like talking to me are few and far between. At 21, I feel kind of stupid still asking this question, but how do I make date conversation easier?

Hmm, first date, I would do something active (bicycle, mini-golf, some form of athletics, etc). It breaks the ice and keeps the conversation natural.
There's too much pressure to start talking right up front. After the activity, the conversation should flow because you can talk about what you just did.

Well, I spotted the problem right there in the first sentence. Speaking with intelligence, not to say you need to be stupid, but I assume you are logical in your conversation. Tell jokes, tell stories, learn about each other. Conversations must be fluid in form, if you and the girl have rapport, great! If not, create it by having lots of interesting input but also listening. My personal few is 30/70 with women, women LOVE to talk, so take the time to listen but also make sure to respond.

Well firstly dont be nervous. My first date with my new guy was at a theme park, somewhere fun where i knew we both would enjoy. Talk about your interests, likes and dislikes. Dont go on and on and on about yourself. Listen to what each other has to say and take and interest. Dont be afraid to be yourself, show your sense of humour and dont be afraid to ask questions but nothing too personal. Make her smile and at the end of the day if there is a spark, you'll be able to tell just by looking at her!!!! My fella and i met online and it was the best thing i have ever done!!. well. since you say your confident then it shouldnt be hard for you to start off conversations...its just that..if you start having a conversation and they seem like they think your too quiet...then start doing more of the talking and start talking about yourself or something...and if they think that you talk about things that really matter...then dont you think that thats not the right one, if they cant even conversate about the things that you think matters worse. that means they dont have the same interest or some sht. but yeah..

Make the first date a short one and take it from there? Try not to really care about being judged, that's what dating is about, so if you're going to be darned, be darned for who you are. Don't talk about yourself.

ask questions such as What is your favorite thing to do? What keeps you busy? Hopefully she will be curious enough to ask the same ones back. If she does then just follow your heart, you cant go wrong. Good Luck
