i am opening up a new microsft word doc and their is the paragraph sign at the top. after every word is a dot and every paragraph has a paragraph sign. How do i get rid of it so i can just type regular Please help I have an assignment due!!!

You have simply accidentally hit the show/hide button. It looks like a paragraph mark and is to the left of the percent of page on the Formatting toolbar.

It is a toggle - press for on, press for off.

It comes in handy when you need to reformat a file and need to find or remove extra or unwanted spaces.

THere's a paragraph sign on the tool bar to the right. Hit that ONCE.

There is a buttone on the other side of the zoom and it says show/hide if you click on the it will make all the marks disappear. I hope that this helps. :)

Go into preferences and turn off formatting characters.
