They are indoctrinated to think that is a test of their faith. "Oh, I prayed and God saved me from drowning on that submerged bus." Of course, the other 37 kids were praying their butts off, but they drowned. Guess it was God's plan. He had other plans for them. He was calling them home. He was testing our faith. He was testing their parents. He was challenging us. He was giving us the opportunity to grow stronger. There are a bazillion other rationalizations - they are all the same, really.

It doesn't always. Sometimes it drives Christian's further away. But the reason some get stronger in their faith is because when a tragedy happens, it makes people think about how fragile life is. Life can be taken away in an instant. A lot of times we don't realize that until something like that happens or almost happens right in front of us.

In the Bible it says:

James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy my brother's whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith will develop perseverance, perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete.

Who does not want to persevere through life? Who wants to just quit? A lot of people do want to quit, but for those that look to become mature and complete in their lives have to take joy in hardships and problems, so that we can conquer that this plagues all the good in this world.

For those of you that think Religion is a crutch....well. When mankind has a broken leg, you need not a crutch but a full healing of that broken bone. Jesus Christ is the only one that can heal this horrible problem in this world. If you are going to say "Oh Religion is just a crutch." You are not only denying the help that you need but making an obvious statement that there is something wrong with this world (broken leg, sin, evil desires) and you are refusing the help of an Almighty Power. Who in there right mind after breaking their leg will hobble around on in without any crutch or medicine of any kind? There seems to be a huge flaw in your thought process on the matter.

It's not a question of a Christian's faith getting stronger - it doesn't get stronger - it simply gets tested. If a person truly has trusted Christ as their savior - their faith is more evident in trials because if everything is okay - then no one can tell if you're living by faith or simply by your circumstances. When things fall apart - if you have faith - it's evident because you can have peace - things have meaning and a purpose- if you don't - that becomes evident too - hopelessness and despair set in. So, when something bad happens like a death in the family - sure I'll grieve like anyone else. But why will my testimony be that I have hope in the midst of that? It's because of faith in God that He has all of our days numbered and that I can trust His greater purpose in the situation. Faith comes by hearing the word of God - not from our circumstances. If I believe someone went to heaven - okay I can cry for myself but not for them - they are doing great! It's either God - or there is no meaning at all for life - if we all evolved from a mud puddle and will just die after 70 years - what's the point of having kids, working, living, breathing - who cares? In another 50 years - no one will even remember us unless they might keep my photo on the wall and have no clue about me if I'm lucky. We should all nuke ourselves and get it over with then if there is nothing to hope for - nothing to live for - no reality behind one's faith.

Do their faith get stronger or do they show boat? I s this deaned proper behavior in any religion to worship and beg for help more in grief and forget God through the basic living routines except for Sundays something great happening? is that worshiping or just fronting? I don't understand it at all! I pray to be enlighten by paying close attention to all written here and the responses you shall receive. Part time faith worship and honoring is weak - you think?? I acknowledge the lord of the worlds all times not for certain reasons or happenings!

Because unlike the petty who cling to this life claiming that we are just brainwashed idiots who are too shallow to see the real cruel reality dont look beyond their own shallow existance to see there is actually more to this life than meets the eye. Much more, so much more in this ignorant state of existance that our weak little minds are unable to grasp the pure vastness of a reality that goes far over our heads. God is real and whether you want to believe it or not its existance is real as well and a tragedy is only a tragedy to the eye of the beholder. A tragedy to one is a passage to another, maybe those people didnt die in vain, maybe they just moved onto something more anything or anyone can grasp in this existance, but what do I know Im just some dumb brainwashed believer.

the fundamental belief is that God is good, and out of that benevolence he's allowed something to happen for your benifit.

It gets stronger then, because tragedy is the proof that something better is in store for you. It's a clear wake up call that he's still around.

technically, because after the 1st time they are already a million/2 ineffective, the 2nd a million/2 could truthfully be 1 / 4 of the preliminary aliveness. so as that they could be 3 quarters ineffective after the 2nd time being scared a million/2 to death. it extremely is an exponential decay component.

Because Christians (and most Theists for that matter) look for the meaning and purpose of things.

"This happened. Did I do something wrong? Was I not praying enough? Was I not charitable enough? Was I neglecting God? Was I neglecting my love for this person? Was my love drying up?" etc.

Atheists tend to look at it like, "Bad things happen, its nature" or occasionally some use it to blame God.

So the Theist says, "God what did I do wrong?"
The Atheist says, "If he is real, and God let this happen, he did something wrong"

So basically its about optimism or pessimism.

There are almost 2 billion Christians. Can't say I would agree with your generalization. But where people's faith increases under suffering, there is the witness to divine grace operating in their soul to strengthen them in time of distress.
