I've tried and tried and tried to fully potty train my 3 year old chihuahua. I will be the first to admit that she is utterly spoiled!! She'll wake me up in the morning and ask me to take her out, and she's pretty good at that. BUT, when I'm not looking, and she wants to be sneeky, she'll go on the carpet! I was wondering if there was a 'home remedy' for something that you can spray to keep her off of my carpets that I've had to replace two too many times!! H-E-L-P.....

I've owned 3 chihuahua's and I also know may chihuahua owners and for me and all of them also it has been almos impossible to potty train them completely, I think it's just them knowing they are cute and can get away with it because you feel bad punishing the little guys, eventhough that probably wouldn't help to begin with, LOL.

I would try putting down some puppy wee wee pads and it may reduce the peeing on the carpet. I'd also suggest going to a local pet store such as PetSmart or PetCO and ask them about the product that is most bought and most suggested when it comes to getting the odor out of your carpet and also putting an odor down that will make the puppy not want to use the bathroom on the carpet.

I'd also suggest professional training also although that can be pricey depending on where you go.

Whatever happens, I wish the best for you and I hope you decide what's right for you and your pup!

There are several ways to potty train your dog, but you need to decide which way is the best for you and your pup. It sounds like she is being stubborn and you have alot of work ahead of you! All dogs are able to be trained, they just have to be willing. To find the best way for you (as there are too many to go into detail here), do a yahoo search on dog training or go to your local bookstore and get a book on it. All of my dogs had to be trained in different ways...they had to be difficult too. Good luck!!!

use Nature's Miracle for the old smell spots she's leaving, and when you cant keep a very good eye on her, crate her.
Only advice I have.

We have a pup who isnt fully potty trained, and with the use of a crate, he doesnt have accidents in the house at all

If she is asking sometimes, and not others, I would have her checked for an infection. Dogs aren't really ' sneaky ' and unless she gets into trouble for peeing, she isn't going to try and hide it. I say be consistent and get a steam cleaner.
