Hi guys and girls,
Well~! This might seem like the sort of perverted question.
Like who wants to endure another punch after another in the tummy?
But yea, I'm in that situation.
And i really need to know if there are any methods you would use to harden your stomach, or make it more bearable to take another, when your opponent has pulled back to take another swing at your stomach.
Are there any other methods, physical or mental to prepare my body for more punches?
I also read around and found out that, doing crunches and having someone something to pound on your flexed abs will help muscles grow. how true is that?? and if true, how long would it take before I can stomach 20 deliberate punches??
And having more air in the stomach while receiving a punch hurts more?
Thanks a million guys and girls~!

This isn't a crazy question really. Everyone needs to work on some body conditioning.
First off, pounding on flexed abs does not make the muscle any stronger. Muscle building comes from micro tears, not from bruising or blunt trauma.
However strong abs are one key. Get a partner and a medicine ball. Lie on your back with your hands underneath your butt. Have your partner drop the medicine ball on your abs.
As it comes down, flex your abs and exhale with the impact. Do this repeatedly, working up to your partner forcing the ball on your harder and harder (over time).
Do about 50 to a 100 repetetions of this at the end of a workout, in sets of 10 or 20.
This will teach you how to take a shot, in addition to helping you work your abs (with the flexing, not the ball)
The tighter you can get your abs, the easier it is to take shots to them. Yes, exhaling is another way to bear the shock as well as provide oxygen to your muscles. (the same way you exhale on a lift, or during a strike)
Crunches, other ab workouts are fine. They will help tighten and give more strength to your core and abs. Just learn to exhale as the strike comes in along with tightening your abs.
Viola, you can then take punches fairly easily. Once your abs are tight enough you can take most trival stomach punches without the exhale, but simply by tightening.
Hope that helps ya.

This is kind of a strange question because typically a martial artist would condition himself to maybe take one punch and then find some way of defending himself from being hit again.
However, since you asked. Crunches, situps, leglifts all help to strengthen your abdominal muscles. It's just like lifting weights to strengthen your arms or chest. In this case, the weight is your own body.
I don't know how long it would take to be able to endure 20 punches since as I said, most guys wouldn't wait around that long. I'd be concerned that if the person hitting you suddenly realizes that you can take a punch to the gut, he might decide to try hitting a different body part.
Good luck and sorry to hear about your problem.

Why do you seek this path? Is it a necessity or a crave? What are your reasons? I read Cs313's response and it is quite accurate. However, are you worthy of such given knowledge? These arts are hidden for a reason and are only taught to righteous people. If you want to use this technique to last more in a competitive fight, or to hurt others, I would say you are not worthy. If you only seek the improvement of your body and the path to enlightment, I would understand and encourage you to continue. However, I am no master of the (supposedly) hidden arts (which should not be expressed so openly CS313), and I can only hope that a true master can help you learn this, if your reasons are truly noble. If not, it would be a wretched waste of good teachings.

yes! this question isnt perverted at all. endurance is important for martial arts. there is a way that people have been using to train the stomach at its all about the conecept of chi that works. its all chigong, chikung, qigong, or qikung. kung means qork like kung fu is hard work and chi is the main part and life force from within you, to improve this, u have to breathe. qigong is all about standing meditation and breathing excersises and the shaolin monks use this. the monks use this to meditate and then during the test, the teacher punches the monk in the stomach about 50 times without him having pain. they also do things like punch a rough rocky wall for 2 hours straight or do things like pressure points to understand body structure and acupuncture.qigong also helps heal yourself faster and it DOES work.qigong is also associated with kung fu and tai chi.
