both are on the c drive, but it takes a little more effort for someone else on the same computer to access the "my documents". That said, any person with any computer knowledge whatsoever can access your "my documents" folder. That said, maybe keeping things in my documents is easier for organizing and finding, if you designate that as the place of choice.

My documents is tipically on your local harddrive like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Greg\My Documents
The only real downside is hackers know where to look for files, but if you have a good antivirus firewall like norton or mcafee you shouldn't have to worry. If you really want to be safe put your files in some obscure folder thats hard to find or encript them

Don't know of any cons. In My Documents, I have created folders for Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access.
As subfolders in the main folders, I have my documents categorized. For example, in My Documents, I have a folder for Word
Within Word, I have folders for:
- documents
- labels
- FAXs sent
- online ordes
etc, etc
