How can I lower it by friday?

The general rule of thumb is that if you have a fever over 100, you shouldn't go to work or school for 24 hours because you may be contagious. You may function fine, but you're exposing others to whatever is causing your fever (unless it's a local infection from a wound or something that isn't contagious, but you can't always know what it is right away).

Taking ibuprofen or tylenol will lower the fever, but it won't get rid of whatever is causing it. A low grade fever like yours means the body is fighting something, and if it doesn't bother you, just let your body fight the bacteria or virus with heat.

If you stay home tomorrow, rest, keep warm, drink fluids, you may be a lot better by Friday. Do all those things and take your temp on Friday morning. If it's normal, you could go to school.

Depends on what caused the fever. Did you drink something hot before taking your temp? I used that trick in school. If it is not down in a day or two check with your Dr. to see if there is an underlying cause. Could be the start of the flu, rest, liquids aspirin, back on your feet by Friday.

Absolutely! The schools don't even want people there with fevers (fevers=infection, and perhaps contagious). You can stay in bed, drink plenty of water and juice, take Tylenol or Motrin, and sleep as much as possible.

I hope that it goes away by Friday, but if it is the flu; strep throat, an ear infection, etc. you might be down longer than that. (Strep and ear infection require doctor + antibiotics).

Tylenol and lots and lots of fluids. It probably wouldn't hurt to stay home but that all depends on what your symptoms are- you could be coming down with the flu or a cold, either way if you are running a fever you are contagious.

Yes it is. Rest, drink plenty of fluids. If you run a temp for more than 3 days it's time to see the Dr. You can take 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours.

Hi, the cause of fever has to be acertained. Suppose, though not wished, fever does not subside by friday even with such tricks. Health has to determined by caretakers/docs, and not by yahoo forum friends- arent they sounding quacks suggesting ice, onions and paracetamols? Do not scribble anything for someone's long term health for points.

Suggested proper check up.

Well no, you should start taking motrin or tylenol. But if you feel bad because of this low grade temp then by all means stay home and stay cozy, you dont need to be exposed to the elements.

Try tylenol. That's good for fevers. Try to stay away from ibuprofen, it will make you tired. Any time you have a fever, it means that whatever illness you have is contagious. I would stay home and continue to monitor your tempurature. Hope you feel better!

Yeah it is. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen lowers fevers, but won't cure whatever is causing it. Stay home until you're better, no one wants to catch it.

yes, especially if you run a low temp like I do. whats the use in going to school if you are going to feel lousy? you can lower your temp. by checking with a doctor. there is a reason for the higher temp. maybe infection..well check it out with a GP and get a note for the school.
