very wise words... the society is going down... people think we "evolved" into more intellegent "species" because of technology, but it seems to me that the knowledge we have is only for the purposes of this life.
If everyone thought that this life is temporary, and there is another eternal life after this, people would do good to prevent spending the next life in Hell. But some people are just misguided like you said... religion is an excuse for division this days.
May God guide mankind to the truth
Thanks to God i'm here and he made me a Muslim

First of all if they think that it is ok to hate because they are a different religion then they are not close to God if you really have God in your life then you will not hate Gods greatest commandment is to Love. Yes society is going down hill fast just look around this world is a mess. But in the bible in Revelation it tells this so it does not surprise anyone familair with the bible.

I think the primary influence on the way society is heading is technology, not religion, After all, what you mentioned has been around for a long time, but we can see clear changes in the past few years aone due to technology.

Bina: "Progressing forward" - yes ... but very negatively according to the "Nuclear Clock" was just adjusted to have the hands move closer to "midnight", by the science community. This "yes" answer I just supplied you with, is most appropriately, applicable to the "heading down hill" , also, part of your question. Yes; I agree that there is quite a bit of dysfunctional religion out there in society and a hugh lack of substance based SPIRITUALITY Christianity founded in a RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ. But, then, again - isn't this the reason Christ is returning to the earth to establish a relationship with His creation and make restitution of all things once in existence ?

Well we are not burning witches or drawing and quartering. It used to be legal to beat your wife and children, (some places it still is, but...). It does seem like things are getting crazier, but it seemed that way to everyone in history. You can find Greek philosophers complaining about "the youth of today".
While I am no fan of allot of things going on in the world today, I still must say I think we are making some progress, though all the hatred between religions is very scary, but it has been going on for a very long time.

Downhill in a hand-basket on wheels.
For all the talk about God and love, I agree that far too many use their religion as a reason to dehumanize and hate.
If you don't conform you are not worthy seems to be the motto.
In order to move forward, people would have to accept that all people are equal and that all have value. I don't see that happening any time soon.

judging by some of the questions and answers on this yahoo site I am sure it is heading down hill-used to think there was hope for our species-now i realize we do not have e a hope in all the universe, we are less tolerant of others, we dont seem to care either way anymore and everyone is just fighting and fighting to prove who is right and who is wrong and really that is only going to happen in one way; proof, and since that isnt going to happen there is no sense even debating it anymore we should just learn to accept it and MOVE ON.

There is a shift in the World that is ushering in a new dimension
of peace and softness and we see a woman running for president, and a black man and a Hispanic. We see two black
coaches in the Super bowl, the best rapper is white and the best Golfer is black. Peace is coming with the new order and religion will leave with Yang

That was pretty well said. I think more people are out for #1 these days. Nothing wrong with that as long as you don't have to screw everyone around you over to accomplish that. It seems to me that more people use religion as a veil to appear righteous but they have their own selfish agendas.
