you can adopt a dog from a rescue organization or group in your state. there are several i found which i listed below, all of which you can locate near your area. these dogs have been given up to the rescue group because their owners are unable to care for them anymore so they need folks to adopt them.

the rescue organizations in the country are non-profit groups that rescue animals and find homes for them. all they charge you is the cost of the shots and what it cost them to care for the dog. they care for the dogs, train them and prepare them to go to good homes.

we just got two great pyranees a month ago and these dogs are the sweetest and most wonderful dogs. the rescue organization helped us pick our dogs and brought them to our home. they are all volunteers so they really care for these animals and treat them with such affection.

good luck! and hope you find your perfect pet.

Check out the city pound at 27th and Western or the Anti-Cruelty Society on Grand and Lasalle. Both places frequently have pups but you have to go early and often because pups are adopted quickly. The Anti-Cruelty has a three page adoption form to fill out and a 24 hour wait on all adoptions. The pound has a little questioneer and no waiting period. Both will have spayed or neutered the dog and if it is a pup it will be up to date on shots, adults will be fully vaccinated. I believe the fee for adoption is $55 to $75 for a dog or puppy.

The only other thing you can do is keep checking the classifieds( pet section) in both the Suntimes and Tribune there are often puppies for sale in your price range listed. If you buy from an ad just make sure the place and pups are clean and the mother should be pet-able.

GOOD LUCK!!!

The preliminary fee of the dogs is minimum in comparison to the wellness expenses from the vet. canines at shelters are no longer low-priced (over $3 hundred) and the little ones, somewhat puppies, pass quickly. If a dogs has a wellness issues whilst common kennel cough or behavioral themes and that expenses much extra.

Try www.petfinder.com
They will be able to show you dogs in the Chicago area and it is so rewarding to rescue a shelter dog.

Most shelters list their dogs on Petfinder, but sometimes they aren't updated every day, so it never hurts to actually visit the shelter.

All of my dogs have been shelter dogs and they are so grateful. Please consider this.

purchase price of a pet is often the least to worry about. will you have money for spay/neuter, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick control, food, puppy class, dog toys, a crate, groomers if needed, costs for emergency illness, boarding if you travel.

I think you should check the animal shelters. They usually have great dogs that need a home.
