This is getting ridiculous. Why the hell can't people just accept the other's beliefs and MOVE ON? Why waste time and energy fighting? Christians, if you truly believe in God, then turn the other cheek and WALK AWAY. God didn't say "Spend your crappy time fighting with the nonbelievers," now did he? Just "pray for their souls" and ignore them. Atheists, why bother teasing other people? They already know you don't believe in God. Do you need a freaking banner? A loudspeaker? I know you think it's funny that Christians believe in a, in your belief, nonexistant god. But can't you just laugh to yourself? Why go and kick them? If they're trying to convert you, then slam the door. Don't waste precious time arguing when you can actually HELP people on Y!A. But I guess I'm just ranting because I'm confused. I don't know what side I belong to. Why do I even have to choose?!
Note: isn't it ironic that we hear nothing from the Jews and Muslims? They're religious, too.

Wow...I'm getting some deep answers for once. Maybe I should just keep on asking questions in this section. And just so you know, all of my questions are really rhetorical. I just want your opinion.

This war, in my view, isn't between Christians and atheists. It is between fundamentalist Christians and Jews, Moslems, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, even Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and other Christian faiths. In fact, the fundamentalists often call these other faiths "cults". They say that God ignores the prayers of the deeply religious Jew and that he and his entire family are going to hell. They tell the pious, prayerful Buddhist that God ignores his prayers and that he is going to hell.
You seem to be asking why others mock, tease, and challenge these people. Well, I can tell you why I do; because I find it downright offensive for these people to tell my highly moral, religious Jewish neighbor that God ignores his prayers. I find it grossly offensive to hear these people tell my pious, prayerful Buddhist neighbor that God ignores his prayers and that his religion is a cult.

"I find it childish. I am a Christian but I don't go sticking it in people's faces, no one should. Atheists think they are so great because they are "modern". Christians fight back to it. "Modern" changes in time. You are never "Modern". " You're being childish and sticking your anti-modernity in my face. Also the absurdity that nobody can ever be modern. Seriously, what are you smoking? If you don't, and I am skeptical of that, then you know Christians who do. Get them to get their religions out of our laws and textbooks. As soon as your religion stops hurting people, then I'll stop being angry about all the harm your ridiculous superstitious cause. Until then, don't tell me to turn the other cheek to the injustice your religion causes. That's your self-destructive superstitious dogma, not mine. "Can't we all accept eachother's beliefs" No. I refuse to accept the idea that I, or you, or anyone else deserves to be tortured for eternity, or that gay people don't deserve rights, or that there's some magical being sending tsunamis to punish people for "sinning", or that a blastocyst is existentially equivalent to a real human being. I cannot accept that any gods exist, including the Christian god(s), because there is no evidence that any gods exist. If I accepted that a god or gods existed, then I wouldn't be an atheist. So maybe you you should shut it with your "agree to disagree" false surrender. "Both religions are fine" You're kidding right? You've got to be kidding me. Atheism isn't a religion. All atheism means is not believing any gods exist. It is in no way a religion. Maybe before you start disparaging a group, you should find out about what you're talking about. Maybe you shouldn't be spreading your hate and voicing your opinion harshly, if you're going to make that demand on us.

Ah, that would be because the Christians are trying to preach their faith in the public schools and enforce their morality in the public sphere.
I think I have a right and an obligation to fight that.

the problem isn't Christians.
Its the evangelical christians who think everyone who's not an evangelical is going to hell.
These evangelicals are preaching horrible horrible violent hate-filled ideas. I firmly believe that their beliefs are spreading hatred and ruination upon the world and that they must be challenged.

There's a war? Why wasn't I informed? Oh man, I've gotta get my khakis dry-cleaned.... this is so inconvenient!
It's human nature to debate. A little healthy debate is good. But plain old harrassment is no good.

Me too.
It keeps me on my toes and I learn a few things from Atheists. Some of them ACTUALLY have a brain.
The one's at least, that aren't dullard Darwinists or Dawkinists.
Some of them ACTUALLY read books and UNDERSTAND what they read and lead me to interesting things.
