I asked a question about some verses that contradicted each other in Acts, the only thing I got from Christians is abuse, total rubbish or they blamed the translation. The verses I got them from was the New American Standard version, you would think that the translation would be right by now.

Look at all the verifiable things in the Bible.

1. Talking snakes
2. Talking donkeys
3. People walking on water.
4. People rising from the dead.

What, you think it is a fairy tale or something?

I agree w/ the above suggestion that it takes rather circular logic to defend the idea that any text can be 100% true.

Not to go off on a philosophical rabbit trail, but, to me, the question has always been, can it be true? First you have to define what you mean by truth. Presumably those who argue for the bible's unerring authority believe that truth is static, one dimensional, and otherwise able to fit in the confines of liguistic summary.

Most smart, spiritual people I know are willing to hear what the bible has to say, but are under no delusion that every word should be taken as law. That would make for some crazy living.

We shouldn't believe it is true. The bible has been altered many times over the years.

It does however still contains some truth and when reading we need to be very careful.

It is our duty to understand what it means. We can listen to what other people say but it is still you who has to think, meditate, reflect upon the verses that you read.

It is much easier to listen to a preacher because he or she has it all figured out. They preach feel good. However, spiritual growth sometimes need you to go through hardship as well. Fasting. Giving. Keeping the Holy Days of God, etc. Those things very few like to do because they are hard to do or unconvinient.

You shall know them by their fruits.

If you want to know God that is where you will learn about Him. Many people get bent out of shape because each translation uses different words to tell a story. The point is the main part of the story is the same. The different authors Mark or Luke for example, each tell the happenings from their point of view. Luke was a Dr. and he reports things that Mark did not. Regardless of that Jesus Christ was born, lived, died and was resurrected. He is the Son of God, who will judge all mankind. He is seated in Heaven with God the Father and is our great High Priest. Each bible translation tells this same story, only using different words for better understanding.

We all fall short from the glory of God. I believe that the Bible is true. God communicates with me through His Word.

The fidelity of the New Testament text rest on multitude of manuscript evidence. Counting Greek copies alone, the NT is preserved in some 5, 656 partial an complete manuscript portions that were copied by hand from the second through the 15th centuries.

The Old Testament is reliable.Jesus would have told if the Scriptures were not accurate. He referred to the Old Testament when He talked about the Scriptures.

Study history and the Greek language and you'll see that the Bible holds up remarkably well. And I saw those people posting indecent things to you, but hey look at your screen name.... Add that and you posting alleged contractions from the Bible and people will think you are not truly seeking answers you are just trying to insulting someone's "Holy Book"..... Some people are just tired of people who do things similar to what you do and sometimes they lose control of themselves and lash out. I apologize for their sake.

Don't bother explaining any theories to them. They'll just beat you up for "hating on them" or whatever. The bible says that it's true. It's like movies/books that say that it's based on/is a true story. But notice that neither God or Jesus writes it, just their friends. How much can we trust these friends, anyway?

A lot of prophecies made in the bible have come true. Archaelogy is backing up the bible.
