Religious people: what would you do if it was proven that God did not exist? How would you live your life?

Atheists: what would you do if it was proven that he did? How would you live your life?

No cop-outs like "My belief system is infallible and god has a 100% chance of existing/not existing." Assume that there is a radical change in your understanding of the laws of the universe, and it is possible for something other than what you think to be possible.

I would live my life the same. I would strive to be a kind, compassionate person who believes in justice for all people, who believes that the stronger should defend the weaker, and the people who are fortunate to have shelter and plenty of food should help those who don't.

"Religious people: what would you do if it was proven that God did not exist? How would you live your life?"

Well I guess that I am a 'religious' person because I do believe in Jesus and what he did. What would I change? Nothing. I am better off believing in him and I'm at least smart enough to know that. Not much smarter, but that smart.

I mguess if I were in another forum I would ask an Atheist, what would it take? But I know that Jesus will return after the Great Tribulation and all will sort of shut their mouth. I guess the world will quiet down if it wasn't for those who would rejoice at the same time.

Well first, I have to state that God DOES exist. But to go along with your hypothetic question......If it turned out I was wrong, I would be no worse off. I'm living a good moral lifestyle, I'm kind to others, I obey the law....etc.......
But for those who don't believe, when they come to find out that they are indeed wrong, and that God DOES exist. They will be losing everything. They will be separated from God for eternity, spending that time in a more horrid place than they can imagine.
I think the song by Nicole Nordman puts it nicely "What if you're wrong, what if there's more. What if there's hope you never dreamed of hoping for. What if you don't just close your eyes. What if the arms that catch you, catch you by suprise."

If it was proven that God does not exist, it wouldn't change the way I live my life. I don't do good to impress God. I don't fear going to hell if I am not a good person. I do those things because it is right to live that way.

I would have to question where all of the beauty in the world came from, however, as I do believe it is God's creation. I believe that God caused evolution but that it is not completely random.

Christian view:
I would rather live my life thinking ther is a God. This reasoning is because, in the Christian way, we are supposed to treat others as we would want them to treat us. I feel I am a good person and treat others well and for that I am respected.
If in the end, there is no God, I guess I just wouldn't know or care for there would be nothing but death....

Oh, just something to gnaw on....
god does not exist. To exist means to have not existed then exist then not exist, as in all life on earth...
Man is born, lives, then dies. Gos IS, WAS, and always WILL BE.
That is not existing.

All the while, I didn't believe in 'creator', I don't know how he exist anyway. If he created us, why he would created us to be such a massy world? To let us learn our lesson? But why he don't created us in a way that we are intelligence that we don't need to go through all the pain to 'learn our lesson'.

I still can survive if god did not exist, because I don't believe in god created me, I am the 'creator' of myself with all my action which I have done since beginningless time, so with this law of cause and effect, I have to come back this universal again and again until I am perfect enough to get out of the cyclic existence.

Honestly even IF it was proven that God did not exist I would want to live my life by the same Christian principals that I do now. Because the golden rule is to love thy neighbour and I believe that if we all did that then this world would be the glorious place it should be.

If God were proven to exist, I would believe in Him. I'd live my life like I do now, with the exception that I would believe in God.

If it is proven that God does not exist, at least I will not feel that my life of love and joy was not in vain! I would rather live as if He does exist than to live as if He doesn't and be sadly awakened when He proves Himself, really real.

I would be sad if I could not be n heaven with God forever, but I would not know that when I am dead. I have a whole lot more to lose if I am wrong about Him and I've not accepted Him.

I would do some things differently. But all the laws of God are here to protect me anyway.
