hey, sweetie, its YOUR body! My new tattoo I got a week ago is a Valentine's day present for my boyfriend. It is 5 chinese characters that mean forever his between my hip bones. Everyone tried talking me out of it before I got it. I was going to get his name on my left hip bone, and get it small enough to cover incase something did happen, but you know what. This guy is a major part of my life, as I can see this girl is to you, and no matter what happens in the future, I will know that this guy loved me and I loved him and we have gone through some really tough times together. He has shapened my life. So, I decided that this was what I wanted to do and I dont need the worlds permission to do it. I got what I wanted for my body. I will learn from the so called "mistake" if for some reason we end down the line, but I did it for a reason, and that reason will always be remembered. Only YOU can decide if it was a mistake. You and only you. There will always be a great number of people who criticize any tattoo you get. You just need to learn to look past their opinions. You did it for a reason, and that reason will always be known.
What did your girlfriend say?

So you'd break up with her over a tattoo? It's her body let her do what she wants. If you really love her you can love her with it. My husband didn't want me to get my tat but i begged until he did and now he loves it because he sees how happy it made me to get it. I love my tat and wouldn't trade it for the world. And you guys aren't even married so I don't think you have a say in what she puts on her skin, and if she does get the tat I hope you're a little bit more understanding about it and don't threaten to end your relationship over a tattoo. If you do than there were other things wrong with your relationship that you would throw it all away and then she is better off without you... Sorry I know that was all pretty harsh but... yeah

Well main reason why its the dumbest idea to get a tat done of your current gf name is because most of the time it in a way pushes for a break up. Not tryin to be superstitious but it always happens and people regret later. Look at Angelina Jolie and her BBT tat? Or Pamela Anderson with Lee tat? It even happens to celebrities. My roommate done that along with her bf and they are not together anymore. Literally it took about 5 month to break up after tats where done. Its not really a probably in a tattoo itself its just one of those unwritten laws. Its like school bus graffiti saying John + Mary=Love, which always instigates the break up later on for no apparent reason or coincidence.

I do not think you should get the picture, what if you do break up, and the next love of your life comes and sees the picture, and then shes going to want her picture. A name would be nice, and a heart underneath, if I was your girlfriend, then I wouldn't really want my picture tattoed on a guys body, a heart and her name would be absolutley Perfect.

dude right on dont listen to all these"big mistake'' people, it is your tattoo, who really gives a **** enough to come on here and waste there time scolding someone is wasting their time obviously you didnt think it was a mistake when you got it, why you having second thoughts now? YOU said YOU love it unno if ur gf loves it But you and her are the only ones who matter with this tat its her portrait and its your tattoo... if you love it thats all that matters... i have 19 tattoos now and i love every single one of them! if ne one has problems / concerns about mine feel free to send your hate mail to me and have a fantabulous ******' day = ) (Austininer@sbcglobal.net)

Dude, its your tattoo, your body, your life, your girl...
You run the show.
If they dont like your tattoo, tell them thats why its on your body and not theirs.
If worst comes to worst and the tattoo does prove to be a mistake (which I hope doesn't happen) then you learn from it and move on.
No sense in dwellin on it...
God Bless and best of luck to you and your girl

hey.... how old are you? i bet this is your first (real) girlfriend?? sounds like it to me..... i was the same way with my boyfriend (ahem - ex....) yeah i got his name on me (it's ok, he's got one too....lol) .......i thought exactly the same way you are, was even together for 2 years before we did it, BUT now I know that nothing lasts forever & you cannot guarrantee that you'll be with her forever........ her name is one thing, but I would seriously reconsider the portrait part of it......

I think you should wait. My husband and I were together
twelve years, and married for seven before getting our
names tattooed on each other.
