"Faith is the bird that sings when the dawn is still dark" means that when things are at their bleakest, your faith will see you into the light of a new day.

Ok I've heard this before. I will tell you what it means to ME. I am not saying this is the actual meaning, but I've always done well with quotes on regent exams and reports.

"Faith is the bird that sings when the dawn is still dark"

We all go through hard, my grandmother passed on and everything seemed so dark. My grandmother was my backbone, because she helped my mom and I when my father was abusing me. "when the dawn is still dark"

The pivotal moment for me was keeping my faith in God and knowing my Grandmother is happy no matter how sad or depressing it was. "Faith is the bird that sings"

Conclusion "Birds sing when it's dark. The bird and faith is one in the same (The bird symbolises faith) BUT what is faith. TRUE faith is when everything is going wrong yet you still stick to your morals and values. This represents the darkness. Even though it's dark the bird still sings because it has faith the sun will shine> Sun can represent happiness I know the sun isn't in there, but after dawn the sun eventually must come out and I'm thinking outside of the box. Faith can be Jesus, Buddha, a non-religious character faith in your parents etc...

Even though it is still dark the bird still sings because she believes, that is, she has faith that the sun will rise soon. Figuratively speaking, faith will see you through your darkest hour.

That quote is from Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. He is saying that even when things seem their worst, faith is still around to help you out.
