how do i find out who has the title to my van if the car lot i bought the van from is closed?

i bought a van from super buy motors on 73rd and harlem in bedfordpark illinois and they were shut down because they were selling stolen cars im puzzled as to who do i call to get information about the title because i still owe on the van

Apply for a duplicate title from DMV. On the title will be who the lien holder is (who you owe money to.) Once vehicle is paid off, you will receive a lien release letter stating that you payed off the note. Keep that letter with your tittle, because you will need it when you sell the car. Or go to DMV with your title and lien release letter and DMV will issue you a new title with no lien holder on the title.

What you need to do first is to find your bill of sale and then contact the local police to file a report so that you are covering your butt in case it was stolen as well. Then if they say that it is not stolen, you need to go down to the DMV and show them the bill of sale and tell them that you need a title for the vehicle. If the car lot was the one that financed to car to you, go to court. 2-1 says that you will no longer be responsible to have to pay until criminal proceedings are over against the car lot. If you financed it through a bank, then go or contact the bank that did the financing and ask them for all of the info that you need to get the title with lien on it.
