I have constipation, a burning fever, the shivers (in a warm room), a clogged nose, a dry cough, and loss of appetite. I am guessing either a flu or a cold. What do you think?

You're on the right track. It sounds like a virus. Drink lots of fluids, get plenty of rest, and take on OTC decongestant.

If it doesn't start to get a little better in 3 days, go see a doctor, just in case it's bacterial and you need antibiotics. But if it's a virus, it will start to get better, and there would have been really not much the doctor could have done about it anyway.

I would treat the fever with aspirin every 4 hours, if that didn't work, I would take Motrin every 4 hours and alternate with aspirin every 4 hours, so that you would be taking one or the other every 2 hours. Someone in your household might help you keep that schedule. A vaporizer would probably help with your dry cough and clogged nose. The loss of appetite is probably because of the fever. I would guess the flu as well. Hope you feel better soon!

Most likely the flu.
With a cold, you wouldn't have a fever.
If it's a flu, it will run its course in a week or so. In the meantime, drink plenty of fluids (non caffeniated and non alchoholic), eat lightly, a BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples or applesauce, and toast) don't force yourself to eat if you're not hungry, as fasting is a natural body reaction to illness. Also do something about the constipation, as you store toxins that way and you need to get rid of the toxins to get rid of the bug. Prunes or prune juice will probably help.
Keep to yourself so as not to spread it around. Especially if old folks or babies or sick people get it from you, it could be very bad.
If yo'ure otherwise healthy you will probably get ovetr the flu on your own. But if your immuity is compromised (old age, certain diseases) you may need help. At any rate if you're not better in a week or so, see a dr.
Hope you're better soon! Flu's no fun.

Sounds like you have a viral illness, however you could have pneumonia, bronchitis, AIDS, malaria, and who knows what else. The good news is if you have a viral illness if you are otherwise healthy most of the time it will run its coarse and you will recover fully. You can treat the symptoms with over-the-counter medications.

Also if you do have influenza, not just a cold virus, there are antiviral medication you could get from a doctor.

If you don't start feeling better in a couple of days, or start feeling worse, bite the bullet and go see a doctor.
