How do I start a conversation with a guy who isn't in any of my classes?

Question

I like this guy but he only has the same lunch period as me and we always give each others shy stares. I don't know how to start a conversation with him, which is funny cause I usually can only talk to people who are in my class or who were in my classes in the past. Should I start talking about my main interest? Cause I don't think we can talk about that since the majority of people in Illinois don't surf... I need some answers ASAP cause a dance is coming up and I REALLY want to ask him. Also I'm in high school so there's less of a chance to change one of my classes and end up in the same class with him :(

I can't sit next to him during lunch cause somehow in my lunch period it's really empty and for some reason people don't move to different spots, they stay at the SAME table. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a VERY strange high school...

Ok. Find him before or after school or during lunch. Start with a simple "hi" then say your name. Or you can find his myspace and friend request him. Or ask someone for his aim. Ask him just whatever comes to mind. What he thinks or what you think of your school. Start off with a favorite activity or sport. In your case, surfing. Thats really really good. Tell him you like to surf. A normal guy would totally dig that. Now he's going to be really nervous according to your description. So talk to him like a friend at first and nothing more. Look at him in the hallways and smile. Say "hi" to him more often. Talk about favorite sport, food, color, ideas, beliefs, religion, ethnicity, life, and the universe. TALK TALK TALK and most importantly, have fun and experience, after all he probably likes you and has no clue what to do besides stare shyly. So your going to have to accept some shyness and nervousness at first. So some of the talking is going to have to be from him. Make him feel comfortable. Hope all works out perfectly. Hey, you never know, maybe 3 weeks, 20 hours, 36 min. and 42 sec. from this very moment, you could be in his arms, safe and sound, ready to fall asleep.

How cool is it that you're wanting to make a move? I wish more women would do it! You got the right idea, but you just need the confidence. Hey. He's giving you "the look", right? Why don't you do something "safe" first and try sitting close to him? You could get there a little earlier than usual and get a seat near him.

Or you could just do something I liked to do and get into line right behind him. Maybe make a comment on his choice of food and go from there. If he likes you, all you have to do is smile and let him talk about himself for a few. You can thank me later.

okay whoa u written BIG!! lol so yea sure, this is THE generation. You don't wait for guys to make the first move anymore. Tell you what, talk to him, make ur talks short and sweet that way, if he likes u he will b left begging 4 more.. dont avoid him. be comfortable around him and by short and sweet i dont mean you diss him. Smile and laugh with him. And sure it'll work out =o)

Im from Illinois I moved out to california about a year ago, hes a midwest guy so Im sure hes nice. just walk up to him and tell him you saw him look at you and you liked his smile and start talking, you'll find something to chat about Im sure just overcome your shyness. It does you no good anyway, you'll end up kicking youself when youre too shy because it prevented you from doing all the things you like to, hey I quoted the smiths sorry
