Somewhere between 9-12 days. Ears unseal about the same time. Make sure they aren't "glued" shut if closed too much longer than that, gently swab them with cotton balls dipped in warm water. If the eye looks like its starting to swell it could be an infection that is building up behind the closed eye. Soaking it with warm water is usually enough to open a corner and let the discharge out. (Be prepared this can be a lot!) All kittens have blue eyes at first, most develop final eye colour by 4-6 months. Some breeds (like the Korat) don't develop final eye colour until about the age of four. Hope this helps. My last litter born to a Mum who I found out later had a heart condition. One was born with a "lazy eye", the other born with only one eye. The vet wanted to know if I was going to put them down at 5 weeks! Not. One went to a loving home and the other, well he's curled up on my lap right now, sweetest cat that's ever owned me. He has no depth preception and tends to walk off the couch...other than that he's huge and an even bigger suck! Good luck with your litter!

I find it is always about 9 days. Don't give the kittens away just because they start eating other food besides mother's milk. Kittens are susceptible to feline distemper(gastroenteritis) up to 8 weeks and it can be fatal. Mother's milk is a protection against it. At 6 weeks they can have their first shot to protect them from it. If you feel you have to give them away sooner buy some mother's milk replacement from Pets Mart or a vet and give to the new owners and tell them the kitten will need it until 8 weeks or until 6 weeks if they take it to the vet to have their first shot.

I have had some of my kittens open their eyes as soon as 5 day, but more likely the average is 7 to 10 days. Don't force their eyes open to hurry to process along because their eyes and eyesight are still developing. Keep their eyes clean of goo for the first couple of weeks after their eyes open to prevent the possibility of getting eye infections. Other then that, they do it all on their own. Good Luck with your new babies!

I'm sorry, but whomever said 2 to 3 day is WRONG!! It takes about 2 weeks until they open their eyes. Some a little sooner, some a little later. Sometimes they need a little help. like a warm washrag BUT ONLY IF THEIR EYES ARE BEGINNING to open on their own.
