I have a pomeranian and I've never had a dog that sheds until I got this one (which I've only had about a month) and she's older too and the vet and others said that because of her having two coats it will cause her to shed, also as others said, it's that time of the year and they are shedding their coats.

I would suggest buying a comb and combing her because you need to get the loose hair as it sheds, it would also help if we knew what kind of dog you have.

Also, if she has dry skin I'd try asking your vet for either a prescription diet for dry skin or going to your local pet store and purchasing dog food that is specialized for dry skin. Many pet stores (i.e. PetSmart, PetCO) have speciality dog foods that they will suggest.

I hope this helps some.

It's that time of year. Your dog may need more oils in her diet. Go to the health food store or your vet and find a supplement that is made for dry skin and hair.

Your dog is shedding because that's just what they do at certain times of the year and it's skin may be dry and flaky because you give it too many baths. It could also be because the shampoo you use for it is too harsh. Just ask your vet for the exact advice.

DON'T BATH YOUR DOG ALL THE TIME.. It removes the natural oils that keep them shiny and soft, and allows them to dry out. You have to check the food you are feeding, and you
want to check into how you are heating your house. In the winter animals do easily get dry. Add some oil to the food, Omega oils are good for the coat and keep them more moist.

what kind of food are you feeding your dog? I would try some good quality food that is high in oil. Also, go to the pet food store and get some good quality shampoo and have your dog checked for allergies.

I have a black lab named chloe and she also had that problem. I used Sulfodene, a medicated shampoo / Conditioner it stops the itching and the flaking, it contain's soothing Aloe. It deep cleans and deodorizes good! You can get it at walmart or your local store. for the shedding I can just tell you to conditioner your dog and bath her in the tub once a week, and brush her or him out very good and blow dry with a regular blow dryer that you use.
your welcome!! hope your dog gets better soon!

You may want to take her to the vet to check if there might be a thyroid issue or possibly even some kind of food allergy.

check if she has allergies!

or it could just be a bad case of dry skin.
try using herbal shampoo when you bathe her.
Or if you take her to grooming, ask if they have a solution to dry skin.

dog shed. period. my dog seems to never stop. you could buy a "FURminator" (i know they are located at PetSmart, I don't know about anywhere else) It really takes out a lot of dead fur.

good luck.

It could be her food. Have you changed it recently? Many dogs have food allergies. You should take her to the vet and have her checked for sure.
