I give a treat to my puppy everytime he goes outside to go potty. I think he figured me out. He went #2 twice in 5 minute interval. So I had to give him his treat twice.
And I take him out to potty about 4 times a day...
then I also give him a treat when he runs to me everytime I say "come here!"
I am not sure if I'm spoiling him too much. I am afraid he won't eat his doggy food because he gets used to the taste of his chiken flavored treats.
what should I do? Should I cut down on treats?

The training you are doing is fantastic!!! Keep it up!
You can just as easily throw away the treats and use the kibble as the treat instead.
Your dog will probably turn his nose up to the kibble as treat at first, because he is used to the chicken flavored ones, but he will soon forget and do anything for a kibble!

Whether you know it or not you are practicing many theories of 'positive reward' training. This teaches your dog that you are the source of everything good and they have to watch and listen to you at all times.

As far as the double-poo goes, he wouldn't have gone twice if it wasn't there to comeout!! Better outside than inside!

I think you are giving him a tad too much. Now that he's got the jist of going to the potty, instead of a treat, just praise him. Because now everytime he goes to the potty he relies on it too much, so just change it to praise and he will still do it, and have an appetite for meals. This does not necessarily mean to cut down on the treats totally, you can still occasionally give him a treat when he does something like come to you when you call for it, but not all the time.

We purchased some treat at Petsmart for help with training when we got our pup.
We used about 10 pieces a day (and they were small), just for potty training, ect. And he seemed to enjoy them.

Turned out, our dog got sick off them and the vet told us to stop giving them, and he even stopped eating them after 2 days.He stopped eating all together and was throwing up, and there was no other explanation for it.
Now, we use his dog food as treats, and it works better.

Just make sure the treats are really small...about the size of your fingernail.

Dogs care just that they are getting a treat..not about how big it is.

I treat train my dogs...and don't want them to get fat. Just make sure they like the treats...and break up any treats you buy. Even the ones for the smallest pups could be smaller.

By the way...this goes for any size dog.!!!

Besides..who wants to stop giving their dog treats?

Give smaller bits of treats, or switch to something good like carrots.

Substitute treats for a "Good Boy" & a pat on the head or a favorite sqeaky toy.
