Destiny (or fate)
My reasoning:
You can run from your fate (destiny) but it will always be there.
Your destiny may bring you love ("he was fated to love her",) but you may fear your destiny as well (i.e. Luke Skywalker was destined to face Darth Vader.)
You can't avoid your destiny, though you may try at times.
Each person's fate/destiny is different, but the call of destiny is impossible to avoid.
If that's not it, I am genuinely stumped, but I am sure that nothing guessed so far is correct. Excellent riddle!! Keep them coming!!
