you serve someone with court documents to go to court and they will not sign for them? I have tried two different methods of serving these papers (Sheriff, Certified Mail) and the party still refuses to sign. What options are left for me? This is regarding my child I have not seen now for 3 years. Please send some advice.

hire a process server give them a picture of the person your trying to serve .Once they hand them the papers all they have to do is fill out an affidavit that you can submit to the court as proof they have been served. Although the sheriffs dept should have been able to do that. Also you can request to file a notice in the local paper from the judge if granted that will count as if he was served.

Speak to your lawyer about having them subpoenaed. they don't have to sign for the documents then. And if they don't show up to court they can be arrest for contempt of court.
