I'm happy you've had a good experience when coming to America, I'm American and i'm proud to be one, and i love being in a country where i could meet people from all over the world. And some Americans will look at themselves negatively for unknown reasons, but there are still those who have a positive view.

I think that most Americans are very proud of our country, what we stand for, and our interest in making the world a better, safer place.

The most negative of our citizens are also the loudest.

Most people have jobs and families and don't have time to protest and march or write opion letters to newspapers complaining.

America does have a very cool history...with some dark spots here and there. I think that our future is going to be just as exciting.

Thanks for sharing your observations with us!

That's very nice. I didn't realize that others thought Americans have a low opinion of themselves, I have never thought that to be true. Unfortunately, many people say very rude things about Americans. I'm glad you enjoyed your travels.

Our service industry is actually pretty good about it, depending on where you go they demand it of thier employees. When we (americans) complain about it we are more focusing on passer-by people and how simply saying hello is too much of a bother to them. I come from the mid-west and it was considered rude not to say hello and here on the east coast I have actually been yelled at for allowing another person to go at the traffic light. The person I let go yelled at me, how odd is that?

Because we're told on a daily basis that everyone hates us and how dare we be proud of who we are. That it's that "cocky" attitude that has everyone hating us to start with......

i agree most of us are proud of who we are and our country.
the people who are unhappy tend to be those who voice their opinions the most.
