under both sides of my jaw near my ear is quite sore feeling, very dry mouth, slight difficulty swallowing

Yes. If you have a fever, can feel swelling in your neck or where it is tender or if you experience problems swallowing - see a dr.
It could be lots of things, even a nasty ear infection.

Could be your wisdom teeth or just mucus,
Rub some oil on it and put hot water bottle on it for comfort
Put a rolled towel under groove of neck when u sleep
(fill an empty pepsi bottle with hot water)

yes it could or it could be step thout eather way go to a walk in cinic and see the doctor if it the mumps it will take 10 day if it,s strpethout it will be2 weeks.

It could be mumps, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, cervical lymphadenitis.
You'll have to see a doctor for proper diagnosis.
