If Jesus died on the cross, why is it written that he told Mary her son was standing next to her and she took him and walked in to her house?

Jesus looked down from the cross and said “Mary why are you weeping you son is standing next to you”. Mary looked seen her son and took him in to her house.
My daughter asked this question. I world like to add were dose it say any more about who it was. Pork was only eaten after Paul said he had a dream. 300 years after Jesus
I believe in Jesus but god dose not need human sacrifice to forgive people.

John 19:26-27
When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!" [27] Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.

Because the person He was talking to was His disciple, the one He loved. jesus was talking to His disciple John, the author of the book your refered to. Context is "everything."

With these words, Jesus discharged His last responsibility to Mary, His mother.

John 20:31
but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

John 19:26-27 When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her. "Woman, he is your son" And he said to this disciple (John), "She is your mother." And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
Jesus was instructing John to care for his Mother after he died because John was there with Mary at the cross.

Read the Bible carefully. He tells this to Mary when one of his disciples is standing beside her. I can't remember which one, but he is making a gesture. A son was an important thing in those days as they cared for their elders and as Mary was having her son (Jesus) taken from her he chose to offer a substitute. It may sound strange, but then cultural differences often do.

The love of Jesus is so great that even at the cross he remembered that His mother Mary would need someone to watch over her so He appointed John his disciple to watch over Mary.

I think you mean John...Jesus was telling Mary to take John as her son and he took care of her since....she was a widow by then you know.

Or it could have been Jesus brothers...Mary had other sons after Jesus.

John 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

I think you're referring to the verses in which he tells Mary that John is now her son, and she is now John's mother. I think he wanted to make sure she was cared for. He wasn't referring to himself.

Because he turned over the responsibility to one of his apostles to take care of his mother in his place. I hate to read people spouting off when they don't know what they are talking about it wasn't after he was resurrected. It was when he was hanging on the cross before he died. I forget which apostle.
