I cry when people die in books, like in Harry Potter. I don't know if it is okay and i had to stifle my tears in school.

i started bawling when sirius died. he was my favorite character and I was accidentally reading over my friend's shoulder and she was reading the part where he died. I screamed, started crying and got really embarrased.
but i think its better crying about someone in a book than a person in real life right? that way you can feel emotion without a blow to your real life.

Oh yes. It's actually a wonderful thing that your imagination is so vivid that you can get that caught up in a book. I was angry when Dumbledoore died, very.....kind of felt like I could cry too, haha, but there is nothing wrong with that. If you cried at schoo, I won't lie, you'd probably get embarrassed, but it's truly not a big deal. Just take a little teasing if you have to. Kids can be cruel, but they grow up not long after high school and realize that there is nothing at all wrong with their friends or schoolmates, the way they have acted in the past. Back to the books though, I see your name is Luna Lovegood.....I named my dog Luna, I got her a month after reading the book. I just fell in love with the name.

P.S. Don't cry when you read this........haha, just being silly

I do it all the time! It is perfectly okay!!! I even cry when animals die in books. Once, I read a biography of Dian Fossey, and even though I knew she died, I still cried when I got to the end of the book! I remember in elementary school, I would cry every time we sang a song called "Don Gato", where the cat died. It would make me so sad!

There's nothing wrong with emotions. Sometimes (depending on where we are, we do need to try and control them a bit). But I'm almost 60 and a good book, or especially a movie (good example "The Notebook") will still bring tears to my eyes!

I definitely understand. I cried so hard when I read the Half-Blood Prince. My husband couldn't believe I was crying over someone in a book dying.

That is very normal its just an emotion we cry when people die in books movies and in real life it shows how much you got into the book and cared for the character that when they died you felt remorse perfectally normal.

Sure...it's okay to cry about characters in books.

I just want to make sure that it's not really YOU crying, and not just about the character. If you feel down, really talk with your parents, a freind, or whomever you feel comfortable with.

If it's just about the character, go for it! A good cry never hurt anyone!

Not only is ok to cry over a person dying in a book, it shows you are extremely intelligent and feeling.

I get emotionally when I read books. Usually Nicholas Sparks or Mitch Albom books... something that has to do with life or love. It depends on the book... That means it was a GOOD BOOK!

Sure, if you are that much into the story, its kind of like crying at a sad part in a movie.
