I'm a guy and this is how i look at breakups. I no longer look at them with a hatred, disgust, or envy, or any kind of negativity for that matter. Life is just too fragile and short.
If a girl breaks up with me, yeah it hurts. All loss hurts. but in the end, think we have to always respect the courage it takes to go for something you want with all your heart. Now i know this message is in no relation to your bf. But i'm really writing it for you in so that you don't beat yourself up over this whole thing too much. Breakups are beat, i know.. You have to do what is necessary to stay your true self. So i guess, my advice to you is to feel the fear, and do it anyway.. It is a leap.. but i promise you will land with both feet on the ground.. as will he.

Just be honest. Being crushed by a breakup is the nature of dating. Tell him its over. Dont go into details until he asks. Answer with short and concise answers. But don't beat up the poor guy. Be persistant. If a guy feels that there may still be chance he wont go away.

Be honest without explaining in detail why. like don't say i dont' like this or that about you. Just say i think your a nice person but this isn't working out for me. And I want you to be happy and find someone who will make you happy. He may say he's happy. then you have to say well Its not just working out between us. think your a great person. but I don't feel the same way. ( he should get the hint from that.)

just let them know you loved being with them & enjoyed every second of it and you really care about them but you don't really have those feelings for them as much anymore.. and you hope he understands and you guys stay cool /friends
also DONT do it over the computer! try face to face.. or at least over the phone!

Considerately without a peep of embarassment to his friends. Make it so that they still feel attractive, and that you are just wierd. And, don't date anyone he knows for a while, or anyone that he can easily findout about.
