drinking more helps you prevent from retaining water. but you have to be careful you don't drink too much because it can throw your electrolytes completely out of wack if you're not careful.
if you're trying to lose weight your best bet is to eat a sensible diet (but don't completely cut out your favorite foods instead just eat them in moderation along with everything else)
exercise on a regular basis (and if you're just starting out start slow and build up)
and drink water

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

Whatever you do, do NOT drink 1-2 gallons of water a day for 7 days! Thats SUICIDE!!! Be smart about this..! Didn't you read about the lady who died from too much water? It throws your electrolytes out of wack and it can and 88% chance will kill you if you drink that much water, not to mention you will also be retaining more of that water if you drink that much instead of losing your water weight..
Stick to the RIGHT estimate of eight 8oz glasses of water a day, that is what your doctor will reccomend to you as well which is what you should do anyway just to stay healthy.
If you want to go on a complete water vast make sure in at least 2 of your glasses of water a day add 1/2 tsp of sugar and salt to it so that your electrolytes don't get low and neither does your blood sugar.
Only do this for 1 week at a time, then eat light meals for a week and what you normally would in moderation for about 3-5 days then start your water vast again..
You should lose about 10 lbs, depending on your body mass, water weight, and fat weight, also your metabolism. All those factor in to how much weight you will lose.
BE SAFE and BE SMART...

You would probably lose like 5-8 pounds by just drinking water.
But that is probably not a very good way to lose weight because:
- you will feel very tired and hungry while doing that
- it is very harsh on your body and lowers your metabolic rate which will encourage QUICK weight gain after the process
Would you consider a detox to lose weight? i lost 15kg within 2 mths...
You can see my before after photo here:
http://dreamsincredibles.blogspot.com/2005/10/angel-lost-15kg-within-2-months.html
All you need to do is three things.
Number one, follow the detox programme which requires you to change your diet a little bit. Eg, take more vege and less meat and seafoods.
Number two, use 1 minute a day to take some natural health foods consumable even by babies and pregnant women that will enhance the speed and the effect of the detox.
Number three, drink lots of water to flush the toxins out and help your body start to accept water.
And that's it.
The rest is up to you.
So what do you think? ;)

If you want to do it the healthy way without any food solids just purely drinking water?
I'd recommend you do this for just 7 days by doing the following:
Drink 10 litres of water a day, 1 litre every 2 hours.
Each Litre of water should be mixed in with 0.25 teaspoon of sugar + a pinch of salt.
Each morning drink half a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. before you start the 10litre routine.
After 7days, eat normally for 1-2 days and start again.
I'd only recommend doing this for 2 weeks.
Ideally, what i do for water diet is 2day water routine + 1 day normal meals alternate.
You'd loose about 4-6 pounds every week without exercise.

You don't need to drink more than 64oz a day (that's 8 eight oz. glasses), but along with a sensible diet, you should lose 2-3 lbs. a week, which is what you want in order to keep it off. Unless you are obese to begin with, then you will lose like 20-30 lbs right away. But you first lose your "water weight", then start to lose fat. Good luck!

It depends on what else you're eating and drinking and how much you're exercising in that time. Water alone won't cause a person to lose weight.

it is possible to lose up to five pounds of water weight, but this means that the weight you lose is not fat but only retained water. if you are going to drink that much water, space it out over the course of the day, don't drink it all at once. it is possible (rare but possible) to die of drinking too much water (called hyponatrimia, involves severe loss of electrolytes)
