If you were in a long distance relationship, and it is getting to the point where one of you has to move. If you are a guy, would you expect the woman to move to where you are, or would you consider moving to where the woman lives? I know that there are a lot of facters to consider, but most of my guy friends think that it is "expected" that the woman move closer to them. What is your view on that?

This is not my situation...I was wondering because it's my friends situation, and her boyfriend is pressuring her to move to where he lives...She has a really good job, and kids. So, I thought I would ask.

Hopefully the two of you are mature enough to sit down and discuss the pros's and con's for the both of you, at either location, and make an intelligent decision of what would be the most mutually advantageous for the both of you, as a COUPLE. Good luck.

We don't live in a fairy tale world but here's my take. I've been in a similer situation (she made more) but I had a job that had bennies and an early retirement (military). I kept the job and lost the wife................. and I'm all the better for it. It's had a hell of a price though. When kids are involved everybody pays or gets hurt. My current wife is more understanding and because of that when I do retire we'll go to her choice of location. Fair is fair.

It would all depend on who had the best job and who had the potential in the new location to get a better job. Maybe you could both move to a entirely new place and both start over.

Well, my girl cousin moved out to her boy Friend who lived on the other side of the country. But she moved to San Fransisco.. I think the guy should move to the girl, that's my opinion. Why should the girl do everything to keep the relationship alive?

It would depend on who had the most stable, and profitable income. Most adaptable living space. And if either of them had kids in school, and what a move would mean to them.
Maybe they should both move...to somehwere between them.

If the guy expects you to move without weighing the other factors involved, then he's not very considerate and not worth moving for.

I think when it comes to that, gender has nothing to do with it. Yeah, if we were in the 19th century, it was customary for the female to move in with the male. We're in a new era, so who's ever more financially stable should do it. Its whoever can afford to move.

I am in a long distance relationship and if we get together she will move to where I am at, my job is better, and my house is bigger, it will be easier for her to relocate and better for us to live here

It's not a "Standard" type thing. You need to talk things over and whichever way works for both parties, thats what you do.
