Tylenol or its generic equivalents are used to reduce pain and fever, but not inflammation. Toxic side effects include liver damage from overdoses or when combined with alcohol. Go here for more detailed info:

Although Tylenol does not hurt your stomach, guess what, it hurts your liver, all medications and alcohol filter through the liver, and tylenol is one that can damage that, so take your pick, the liver of the stomach.

I know this is a very simple answer, but the tylenol.com web site is actually an excellent site. You can also go to www.medco.com which is a major supplier/pharmacy used by General Motors, Chrysler, etc.
