How do you get it without getting the chicken pox from someone else

You get it from being exposed to the virus. If I recall correctly it's called variola virus. (Though, I'm not good at virology.)

There's a vaccine, but it's not widely used, since chicken pox is almost never fatal, and you only have to have it once to have lifelong immunity. Most parents just let their kids get it, instead of vaccinating.

U could pick it up from a chair someone sat in or a child rubbed and itch against the door or wall.
It is contagious when the pox oozes from the child's skin.
Old folks can get shingles from it.

It is a virus the only way to get it is to be exposed to someone that has it or from the vacine (which is rare)

its a virus.....u only get it once in ur life.....when u are infected...u develop immunity against it......next time u are exposed u get nothing luckly
