I really want this stray but tamed kitten in my neighborhood that no one has claimed. I REALLY want him. An they are making up these excuses of why I can't have him. How do I make them let me have him. I KNOW they are just not letting me have him because neither of them like cats.

You should try to have a discussion with your parents about the kitten and how much you would like to have it for a pet. They may be concerned that you will eventually get bored of it and not take care of the kitten as much and they would have to do it. Try to sound mature and explain to them all the things that you are willing to do to care for the kitten. Don't get upset or whiny, that probably won't help much.

If you absolutely cannot keep it for any reason, maybe you can ask around your neighbors and friends, and see if you can find someone else that would like to keep it for a pet. Then at least, you would be finding a good home for it.

good luck :)

All these ideas are great but I just want to throw in another thought.

Keep in mind there are expenses involved in pet ownership. The cat will need to see a vet and have shots. Also, on those rare occasions when the cat gets ill, are you going to have the money to pay for that?

Sounds like the cat is used to being outside. I hope you keep in inside to protect it from abusive neighbors and other animals that can harm him.

Think your options over and have a chat with your parents without yelling and getting mad and be prepared to take no for an answer.

If they say no this time, and you deal with it responsibly, next time they may just give in.

Yeah, it took almost a year to get my parents to finally get me a cat. And lemme tell ya crying did me no good. If not it pissed my parents off. Yeah I do get anything I want, but when I explain it rationally. Explain to your parents that you will take care of the cat, maybe even put up a little presentation. Explain to them it's probably a poor little starving kitty, or maybe even say u'll take it in for a few days and maybe find a n owner for it. But when it does come time for finding an owner ur parents will be so in love with the darn cat. Just take the little kitty to get its vaccinations and make sure its not terminally ill. ( I did this when I was seven, u can do this at 12, I'm 13 now).

Good luck getting the cat of your dreams!

You won't like this answer, but it's correct.
Wait 6 years until you're 18, get a job, then an apartment, then a cat, and make sure you have enough for vet bills. You're living on someone else's dime right now so what they say goes.

Ok, You are only 12.... I remember when I was 12 I wanted a cat also....

You need to prove to your parents that you can take on FULL responsibility. Do you do your chores with out being asked, are you doing good in school? Are you a kid thats usually in trouble, or one that trys there hardest in every aspect? Do you have money for a cat? You have to think of all these questions....

You need to do your chores, to earn money
You need to do good in school, to show your responsible
If you really like animals volunteer at local no kill shelters and learn about animals...

I wish you the best luck....I am now in to rescue of dogs, and have my own 2 rescued dogs....they cost me alot of money....and responsibility...

try asking them for a probation period for like maybe a month. if you take care of the kitten well and keep it out of their way for a whole month they let you keep the kitten. write out how you will take care of the kitten, what is expected and the rules and then you and your parents sign the contract.

when we use to find a stray kitty we use to just bring the kitty home and keep it our room til my parents found out and we always got to keep them.
Insist on the kitty being your responsibility you will feed her, care forher and change her litter and never let her be an outside cat.
