The simplest way to start is to practice listening. It does not matter to what, but nature helps. Don't be concerned with naming what you hear, but just continue listening. Gradually you will find that this attitude of awareness will naturally spill over into all the rest of your daily life, and you will find yourself in a kind of meditation, or a state of openness, nearly all the time. You will find that your thoughts are a mess, but don't concern yourself over this and continue to listen. Your mind will relax as it hears more and more astutely and subtly, while enjoying the interconnected harmony of the world. If you keep it up, you will continue to get better at it and enjoy it more, finally starting to forget about the stressful moments of the day and life, and finding the beauty and oneness of all things. Enjoy the wonderful journey.

Meditation is the best way to relieve all STRESS.
It is simple and easy and it will clear your mind and soul.
Get a book or look up meditation on the net to find out how to do it. You are basically concentrating on one thing and ridding your mind of any other thoughts.
To start out it may be best to buy a meditation tape. Get comfortable and listen and just do what it states. When you are done in 10-20 minutes you will feel lighter and more in control.
Try it, it works.

Congratulations on trying Meditation.
I am a Buddhist and I meditate daily.
Here are some tips as how to start.
Sit comfortably. it doesn't matter in what position, you can be on the floor or in a chair. keep your back straight, your hands in your lap. Lower your head so you can look at the ground about 3 feet ahead of you. Close your eyes but not all the way. Start counting your breath. Do it in cycles of 10. Breath in Breathe out 1. Breath in breath out 2. Breath in breath out 3. etc. IF you get lost start again at one.
Do this until you start to feel refreshed or relaxed. it can be for 10 minutes or 10 hours. Don't worry about keeping your mind clear... that won't come until years of practice. You should acknowledge your thoughts and then let them go.
I hope this helps
If you really want to know more you should see if there is a meditation group, zen center or Buddhist temple in your area they can teach you..

I'm not quite sure what you are refferring to with the M word you mention, but I hope I can give you some pointers concerning meditation.
Its not required, but if possible, get yourself into a fairly quiet environment and sit down in a chair. (If you have the luxury of space, you can simply lie down somewhere. Make sure you have enough space to completely stretch out your arms and legs as far as you can. You won't actually be stretching that much, but it definitely helps to have the space.) It works well if you also have a table in front of you too and you are not likely to be interrupted, but that is not required. Its much easier to concentrate on what you are doing when there is less external visual and auditory stimulation around. The quiet environment helps with the auditory stimulation. As for the visual, you'll have to do that yourself. Begin by closing your eyes and keeping them closed for an extended period of time. Usually, I also cover my eyes with my arm as that removes additional light from my eyes that just closing my eyes does not remove. (Purchasing an eye mask also helps a great deal, but don't buy the cheap kind. Spending good money on a good eye mask is worth every penny. The best I have found so far is the Tempur-Pedic eye mask. Its not cheap, but its worth every penny. I actually sleep while wearing it as I am super light-sensitive, but it also works wonder when I wish to meditate at home.) Then, I take several deep breaths in succession. I take my time both inhaling and exhaling. Usually, I feel much better after a short period of time, usually less than a minute, but I have been known to prolong this exercise for as long as an hour or so. Do this for as long as you have time for and feel comfortable doing. (If you are pressed for time, I'd highly encourage either an alarm clock or an alarm on your watch. Otherwise, its super-easy to go overboard with this and lose all sense of time.) The important thing is not how long you choose to meditate but how much stress you relieve by doing it.
I wish you the best of luck.

for starer there not a wrong way to meditate. I would recommend getting a CD to start with. What I do is clear my mind and pay attention to my breathing, then when thoughts come into my head i picture them as letter with legs and push them out my mind and close door and lock it and then i start back to breathing. if that does not work count down from a 100 very slowly. Number have no meaning so they trigger to think. There are people out there picture a safe place but i find that hard for me because me thought wonder. It will be hard at first but after a while it will become 2nd nature. You'll so be shocked how well and wake you feel after word.

This may sound strange cause I'm a guy,but it works and it's awsome, for me anyway.
One night I took a bunch of candles and lit them while they where on my living room floor.left a space for me to sit down on the floor.Got myself high and zoned.Searched for a radio station that suited me for the situation and did excersizes.100 crunches to the left ,100 to the right and 100 to the center.I focused on the pain but the Highness I felt and the focus on the music made me feel awsome.Did some push ups and made sure that I did alot of heavy breathing in and out so the body would circulate very well.Stretches and lots of control smooth breathing.Make sure you pace yourself. No fast jerky movements.Focus on being good to yourself. When your done relax and breath.Stretch before and after.I feel when I'm high I focus on every muscle that stretches and it feels good.meditation means think and it helped me think of every movement in my body. The music made sure I wasn't bored.I also hear the music in a deeper level this way also.
Oh just noticed the M word I'm guessing is masturbation.
While stretching just don't pull a muscle.
A little humor on the side.
Oh wait no...I got it...marijuana

The best way to guide yourself through meditation is by closing your eyes, laying down, and relaxing, mostly concentrating on your breathing. I imagine that all of my stress is a big ball of light that starts in my stomach, and moves all through my body, from toes to the top of my head, and then finally out of me entirely. Afterwards, I start imagining myself in relaxing places (on the beach, in a hot spring, in a cool forest glade, etc.). Do whatever feels the most calming for you.

Plenty of places offer meditation - free. Try a local zen group. They almost never charge just to come sit (meditate) with them.
Of course masturbation is fun too. I don't consider them mutually exclusive, lol.
